Bmw r1200gs just fitted upgraded fuel strip

Great video, good of you to take the time to do this..

How much was the tool out of interest for taking the locking ring off fuel pump? Is the new fuel strip expensive? A pals bike has a fuel strip so good to know, except his is stuck at like 3/4full then it shows full when you do fill it up..

Hi tool was £90. And new fuel strip was £140. And you need soldering iron , solder, some heat shrink and your good to go, thanks for liking video, if video helps im happy

Just as a head up to others, You don't need to remove the tank to do all this, and in fact it provides support and a decent work height

You can use a decent bit of Flat bar steel or hardwood and a hammer to bump the lock ring off

Just do the top part first to syphon down below the fuel Pump flange before you undo the pump flange

Sorry Biker Math Not meaning to Piss on your fire, You did well you got the Job done so fair play but you probably watched an American Video before you started?

They would have you remove the feckin final drive before you remove the tank!!

I was pretty sure I did it once without taking the tank off, but doubted myself as my memory is awful! I used a bit of wood on the ring but I did make a mark on the ring/tank so I could get it back to where it was so was happy it wasn't too loose. Video is good to help visualise things so a nice thing to do 👍

Am I stupid.... I asked when they will come with the plug and they said re considering - as "welding 4 cables is much more easy than unmounting the tank, so if someone do not feel comfortable welding 4 cables, we would recommend him to take the bike to a mechanic to perform the task"

is this some silly necessity to unthread the strip from the plastic garbage holder ? for bikes where its just beside the pump are we saying can't just push into the holder without removing the unit from the tank (coz the wires with a plug on stop you) ?
