My dealer has a 2014 as new r1200rt LC with all the options ticked.
It had the rear suspension recall done.
This bike is as new with only 1000miles.

I am very tempted with this bike because apart from the considerable savings over new, I do not have to wait for three months for delivery.

My only concern is if there were model changes and updates to the 2015 model over the 2014.
I know there were some water pump issues as well. Was this rectified in the 2015 models please?

Also was the rear suspension recall only a case of replacing the strut? Or was it a complicated job the dealer could have not carried out properly?

What would you do?

Thank you

I thought the only changes were colour options and the RRP!
The suspension units were sent away to be 'remanufactured' then refitted by the dealer.
Sounds like a good deal. The bike will be sold with warranty anyway. If it's the silver blue colour then that's the best one anyway :augie

I'd buy it and get touring! Good Luck :thumb

Thank you!
But it is the grey colour.
Shall i still buy it? 😀

If you like it yes! By the way, keyless ignition is an option on the 2015 bike..

Apart from the Blue paint option, the 2015 Rt is also available with Keyless starting.
Apart from that there's no difference.

Do the 14yr RT have the same issues with the heated grips the gs have ! And yr15 was fitted with the upgraded versions !

Nope, heated grips are excellent on the 2014. Just Paint and Keyless are different.

My '15 has been in the dealership for 6 weeks now, reported the heated seats not working in December, dealership plugged the code reader in to find the rear shock (ESA) not working-can't diagnose the heat fault until the shock has been replaced....

So, check the heated seat works to your satisfaction (The temp of the 1600 GTL Sport loan bike goes up to 44 degrees when I point an inferred temp gun at the seat...I dont suppose anybody would like to tell me what temp their RT seat goes up to?).

Hi vteec,

I have a proper 2015 bike (Sept 2014) if you are interested in saving quite a few grand against new, me and my partner couldn't decide whether to exchange our GS-LC for a new RT-LC, so I bought an RT to try it for a while.

It's been a very close call but the GS suits us slightly better than the RT so the RT is going up for sale. It's top spec all the goodies, q/shift, hillstart, led halo's, alarm, dynamic etc and best of all it's in Ebony. So if you want to know more please pm me or email on [email protected] for photos. It's a lovely perfect bike!

I'll put it on the bikes for sale soon.
