  • Overview

This is a 2016 BMW R1200RT K52 in black, showing just over 45,000 miles. I bought the bike in March this year from JRS Motorcycles in York. It was previously used by Hampshire Police as a riding school bike.

Please note that this is not an RT-P model; it is the standard K52 model, so it does not have the additional police wiring looms. It comes with the standard panniers and dual seat.

The bike has covered very few miles in my ownership. I am only selling because I have lost the enjoyment of riding, so it is time for it to go to someone who will use and enjoy it.

    • R+G radiator guards fitted before my purchase.

  • Condition
This is a genuine, usable touring bike rather than a showroom ornament. It is around ten years old and was used in all weathers before my ownership, so there are age-related marks and some corrosion showing, as expected. Please see the photos for the cosmetic condition. Mechanically, it has been very well looked after and presents as a sensible, honest R1200RT with strong maintenance history. Please note, that prior to my ownership this bike must have been based in an area where roads were being resurfaced on a regular basis as it suffered from numerous stone chips hence the respray and screen replacement. Some of the lower black plastics at the front, the headlamp and the black plastics of the panniers still show these scars. There are a few marks on the tank cover. Wear marks where knees have gripped on each side and a few minor scratches which have been touched up, I have tried to photograph these but the polished panel and the sun has made this impossible.

I’m on the look out for one but they all seem to be badly corroded. Never knew you could spec an RT without cruise control 🤦‍♂️

Hi, it would have been specced direct from the factory like this by the Police, cruise control is not something used in rider/driver training and less to go wrong as I am told BMW cruise control can be a bit temperamental

A lovely machine. As some members on here will no doubt concur, police workshops are very good. They know the use the vehicles get, and the high speeds they have to sustain.
Nothing is left to chance, so the maintenance is usually second to none.
Don't let the absence of cruise control make it deal breaker. You'd be missing a well priced machine.
Although it's your choice at the end of the day.

Looks like the Op slackened that bolt and dropped down that plastic engine cover to show the scratches underneath, How honest is he? Well done.
Lovely bike. (y) Glwys.

Not to piss on your advert, but there is a bolt that looks misaligned in 1 photo. IMG 2653
Not misaligned, just loose I had partially removed the machineart cylinder head cover so people can the see the scrape marks on the offside cylinder head. Just trying to keep my advert as honest as possible showing the good bits and the not so good bits, but thanks for taking the time to trawl through all the photos.
