Afternoon guys, I've just noticed a small weep on the pipe that sits by the oil filter on the left hand side of the engine, on inspection you can see its oil and a splash of the coolant water.
Most likely the seals are failing on the water pump, the job itself doesn't look that difficult to be fair. My question is to anyone thats done it on a 1250 or 1200LC is do i just replace the seals on the back of the pump or do i install a new pump aswell??
The bike has done 123'000 mile so in my mind im thinking just put a new one on!! Any advice welcome thanks chaps.....Andy

How much is coming out? A few drops is ok. So the occasional blemish is normal. If you are seeing it stream from here, and your coolant level is dropping - that's when to be concerned.

As above, a tiny amount may not be a problem

The 1200 had a weep hole on the side of the engine, you would sometimes see blue streaks where coolant had leaked, the level in the header tank never went down on mine in 8 years of ownership

I believe they got rid of the weep hole on the 1250 or at least moved it somewhere else

123,000 miles treat her to a new pump. My 16 plate 1200 TB had the incontinence problem and replaced under warranty. The 18 plate, the hole was removed.

Changing coolant is not in the service schedule for any LC 12*0.

So it's normal for it never to be changed.

120,000 for a water pump is good going. Probably helped by a diligence owner changing coolant 👍

Yes i noticed its not in the schedule, i originally changed it after one of my tours in europe it was overheating going up the passes, this simply ended up been crud and fine dirt in the rads that needed blasting out.
When i got home i just thought it be worth new coolant so changed it out, its still something i have to watch it doesn't take much for them to get blocked especially in bad rain where silt off the roads get chucked up at the rads.
