BMW R1300GS non electric screen and aftermarket options

Hi Hoopy, in this photo you can see the tank winglets that I fitted after the first batch of photos.
When I fitted just the screens and screen winglets there was quite a lot of buffeting so I went back to Conquest and ordered the tank winglets and fitted them, absolutely spot on now.

the triple black version of the 1300gs comes with the electric touring screen and winglets as standard, its part of the triple black upgrade, whereas it needs to be specified for the other colours.
I just bought a 24plate with everything you could think of for £16500.

I’ve been out on the bike a few times with the WRs standard screen and winglets to the screen and the ones fitted to the tank area, all the fittings come with the screens and are easy to fit, there is a fitting video on Conquest racing web site as well.
The screen has made a huge difference to comfort on the bike and I’m sure it’s just as good as the standard powered screen as it seems an exact copy,
Like you I would have preferred the powered screen but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me as I got a very good deal with this bike. ( Trophy te )
I’m 5’8 on a very good day and have tried it on the high and low settings, on a long run I’ll keep it on the high setting and drop it to lower in the warmer weather during short trips.
In my opinion if you get a good deal on a Trophy te without powered screen go for it.
Thanks for this, it's really good to hear this set up is as good as the electric screen! I am actually looking at a brand new r1300gs trophy with the standard screen right now, its a very good deal!

Awesome, great to hear.

Are these the same side winglets for the r1300gs adventure?
Do they fit the r1300gs too?

I’ve just ordered the WRS caponord screen without radar. The screen on my gs1300 was 490mm in length and the caponord is 530mm so that just make the difference (or not) that I’m looking for. The screen wasn’t an issues until I changed the seat from a standard BMW to a high Wunderlich comfort seat so something to bear in mind when changing seat heights. It’s obvious I know, but didn’t think it would make that much difference. We’ll see how the WRS works.

I've have exactly that on mine for several thousand miles and very happy with it.

Got the small screen with manual adjustment. Its quick and easy to adjust. Its up or down though, no incremental. Screens are interchangeable, with a myriad of choices. Having had an electric screen on another bike years ago, I really dont care about them.

I like to look over the screen, not through it. So that limits the size anyway, plus once in warmer climes, my preference is for some air over weather protection.
All a trade off I suppose. But the small screen also means that my helmet vents work and visor de-misting is easy.
Price wise, on my second ‘basic’ 1300. You only need the ESA package. Ride height etc more things to go wrong.
This also means new/nearly new for £16-17k. I dont need £8 k worth of other stuff and my preference is for the stripped down version.
You will pick up a year old bike with BMW warranty from a dealer, if you shop around. Got mine just a few months back.

My 1300 came with the sports screen but I’ve changed it to the standard screen and fitted the winglets. I’ve also only got the two positions, up or down.
My bike has the dynamic pack and satnav mount, cornering headlight and centre stand. I think the only difference between mine and a TE is the pannier mounts, but the dealers really screw you if you want to p/ex a non TE. One dealer only offered me £10k! The bike is a 2024 with 5500 miles and is mint.

How are you finding the WRS screen? I’ve just bought a used BMW high seat so will probably come across the same issue as you found with yours.

Hello there, I currently ride a Ktm adventure 1090 which I have fitted an aftermarket screen to.
I have test ridden a bmw r1300 gs, it was a triple black with the ASA and electronic screen, I loved the bike, absolutely amazing engine, transmission, handling and the screen was great too.
The only problem, the demo I rode would retail at £23k and the interest rates on pcps are not attractive to me.
I have found a number of low mileage nearly new used and ex demos online for less than £16k much more in my price range. I can do without a lot of the optional extras but one of the things I really care about is the screen. The electronic screen seems to be a massive upgrade, but there do not seem to be many r1300gs in my price range with the electric screen.
Can any r1300gs owners speak to the upgradability of the standard screen? Puig do a nice touring screen for the gs.
Do you think the electric screen is a must have option, or can the non electric screen bike be upgraded to as good as or better?
Hi not sure if this would be helpful but if your tall ie 6’ 4” ish, I have the electric version from new, always had puig screens on my Gs s so bought one day one, big mistake it does not give the protection required, fortunately I spoted the an offer on Nippy Norman’s for the GIVI high flow, it may be gone now but screen is excellent with the electric so not sure it would be fixed but you do have two fitting options good luck

I assumed the manual adjustment lever would contact the tank left side deflector that are on the electric shield models, no? I wouldn't want extended side deflectors just the size that comes on them, does anyone offer this size besides through BMW?

It’s perfect. I got the WRS Caponord Screen from Conquest racing. It allows sufficient flow and so much better quality than the standard.

I’ve fitted the side deflectors on my GS which doesn’t have the electric screen, the lever works fine 👍🏻

Thanks for the reply, that’s good to hear. Did you try the standard screen in the upper of the two mounting positions first? I think that raises it by about 40mm. That’s interesting the quality of the WRS is better. Is it any wider than the standard screen?

Thanks Paul I'll see what BMW charges for the things, and I assume 4 screws.

The actual deflectors weren’t too pricey but the screws and grommets were a bit of a rip off so I bought a pack of screws off eBay.
