BMW Recovery Service - Piss Poor

Mistakes can happen - beware

If only the dealer could do a PDI properly!!!![/QUOTE]

Yes, even the best dealers can slip up here; I have been at the dealer's in Lyon when a consignment of new bikes arrives - then it is 'all hands to the pumps' and all the staff are unloading crates, carrying bits of bike around and putting them together so that they can be wheeled into the workshop for the PDI.
When I fitted a GSA screen to my old GS I was not sure exactly where all the washers went so examined a new GSA in the showroom carefully and photographed the detail. Then i realised that the two sides of the screen had been put together in a slightly different order. Very embarrassing for their staff to have this pointed out to them by one of their (very) old customers!

I have just experiencd the call out service as my bike started to spew oil all over the place and I have to say that I was impressed. They came out within half an hour and resolved the problem.

What was the problem with it:nenau

A PDI is generally a check round, check the oil and make sure there is air in the tyres. Most vehicles come from the factory all ready to go these days.

Be surprised on a credable answer from the poster of this statement as its all too easy to slag the dealer off before being fully aware of the facts as to what was the origin of the oil leak.

There was a loose bolt on a part of the engine (I know not what it was as I am no mechanic) but the guy from BMW assistance said that it should have been picked up on PDI. I am merely passing on his comments.

Not to France

That is not the normal system here. They arrive less front wheel, screen and various other parts in wooden crates on a lorry. The it is up to the dealer to put them together and test everything.

I had two mates who bought Ducati's in the 90's (916 / 748) they both had to go around and tighten nearly every bolt on the bike.

Can't see the dealer checking every bolt, especially on the engine, would be more concerned if your wheels / handlebars had fallen off.
