I have noted that my 2008 (10k miles) is missing the roundel from the steering yoke. My local BMW stealer has quoted £23 for a replacement. A quick search on the net has come up with roundels for the cars (boot and bonnet) starting from about £13
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of fitting the back of the roundel has or is it just glued in place.
I have also seen this nice looking carbon one which is still about £8 cheaper.

Have any others lost this piece??

Might be wrong but wouldn't a roundel from a car be a tad too big for the yoke??????

The ones on E-bay come in various sizes I believe...to suit steering wheel/bonnet/boot etc...

....but may be slightly different sizes to the motorcycle ones.

I guess the op needs the size of the one he's missing to check what to order on E-bay? :nenau

.....I'd measure it on mine...but I'm 200 mile from my bike. :(

My one was roundel, slim plastic disk, and a foam sticky-backed doughnut sticking the above to the yoke.

Mine blew away on the dual-carriageway - thankfully I got one out of my dealer on warranty and stuck it back on with superglue.

missing roundel

Mine blew off on 2010 gs last week while on a1. Bmw said a few had come off and will see if they can get one on warranty glue not so good on them so bmw say....
:blast

Yes - first time it went missing, after 2 months, was replaced under warranty (after a bit of haggling), second time it went missing I just didn't bother replacing it. I think they are held on with tissue paper.

Also had mine go AWOL (08 GS). Can't remember exact price but quote from dealer was nearer to £30 than £20 :eek:
When the smelling salts brought me round they told me they would give me a trade discount (15% IIRC). Still open wallet surgery though. The new one wasn't just the badge, it was pre-glued to the plastic insert to go in the yoke. I haven't fitted it as I'm concerned about losing another one at that price.

Mine was missing from new. The dealer replaced it free of charge but that went missing too, so I haven't bothered replacing it.

Yep - I hear you on this one - lost two so far, luckily my second one lodged near the ignition stem (thanks to having a Touratech tank bag retainer there!) - I got home after a rideout and there it was, damn lucky!

My first lost roundel was replaced under warranty but it was made clear any further losses would be nearly 30 quid to replce them  I mean, geezus, how can they cost THAT much?!?!?

They are merely held on by some pretty weak adhesive, I had a good luck at my second one when it came off.

As stated above, I super-glued mine in on the second occasion.

Watch for these things after washing your bike or using any weak hosing down procedures, I saw one blast off after only a mild jet of water hit it. All they need is a tiny bit of water under them and you've had it.

One other option is to possibly use silicone to stick it down, waterproof and all that. Not sure superglue is the right way to go thinking about it, it isn't overly impervious to water.

..then check for a loose roundel every so often. Not great is it really?
