OK. Is the zip strong enough so that I can leave it zipped together, hanging on a coat hook? Get's tedious pulling the zip round, as me shoulder is giving me jip.

The trousers don't weigh a whole lot (as long as you take the £1 coins out the pockets!).
I wouldn't worry about the strain on the zip - there will be more strain on the back section of the zip when you are on the bike.
