BMW Service Bulletin service shaft drive at 20k km & replacement of shaft drive at 60K km

Sounds good. Did they let you see or comment on the state of the old shaft?
No. I didn’t see the old shaft. I honestly could not notice any improvement with the new shaft.
I reckon the original shaft was ok.

I had only re-greased the rear coupling once, 20,000 miles ago. All was well inside the drive casing.
No surprise as I don’t go off-roading or crossing deep rivers.

The bike has certainly met it’s fair share of rain, but I don’t think there’s been any water ingress.

I asked for a shaft check and lube, 10k 2021 bike, was quoted £27. Shaft was stuck and UJ notchy, shaft replaced under warranty, worth asking / paying for them to check

Had my annual intermediate service today, bike has covered 8K miles. They did the cardan shaft check, drilled and fitted the water escape valve, and fitted the new footpeg circlips (nowt wrong with my old ones) FOC. I was pleasantly surprised that the service including labour was in at £190 including all fluids changed which I thought was ok. Oil though....£60/4litres. Cardan shaft was apparently minty, plenty of grease, no corrosion and no problems with alignment when they did the check. Was a pleasure getting back on it after borrowing a K1600 (a bit of a beast, like an arm chair with a few rockets strapped to it, but much prefer the RS).

Jeez, i got charged £84 , the shaft was stuck, but they freed it off, and no it wasn't replaced under the warranty !
