Hi guys...

this maybe a stupid question, but it's my first BMW, so please bare with me.

Can i buy anywhere an adaptor that will plug into the BMW accessory socket by the side of the bike that will give me a "normal" cigarette lighter socket, so i can plug in normal cigarette socket accessories like i would in a car?

I don't want to leave an adaptor in permanently, just want to be able to plug one in, whilst stationary, use whatever, then unplug and pack away.

All advice greatly appreciated....

cheers

I've got a bmw din plug to fag lighter lead. Bought it from SPC for about £6 a couple of years ago. About 6" of cable on it.

Does the trick for charging up the mobile on the go.

you will be able to get a plug to fit the BMW socket from the likes of Maplins. A female normal size fag lighter socket can also be had from Maplins - connect the two with a wire.

Not very good with a soldering iron so I just ordered one from Nippy Normans. Ordered yesterday so not arrived yet, but past experience of Nippy's suggests that the quality and delivery will be very good or excellent.

Hmmm cheers guys...

Trouble i'm having is Yosi's link (from Mouse) seems to only have the cigarette lighter sizes, not the din (i think thats the size?) and the powerlet link is perfect except not UK and by the time you add shipping etc, it's not worth the price!!

Couldn't find anything resembling it on Nippys..

I don't have the facility to do my own soldering etc, so a DIY job is not an option...

I need a UK based (reasonably priced) item pre-made....

I'll try my BMW dealer... but other than that, kinda lost :(

Anyone else got any ideas??

I got one from Touratech UK.

Give them a call and discuss what you want, they have several options.

Thanks...

Cheers everyone... i've now ordered one from the "Yosi link" so hopefully will arrive sometime during the week :D

Cheers everyone for all your help.

My power socked died last week, the wiring had corroded away at the rear where the wires are soldered into the plastic wiring connector. Not a very good design considering its location. I would advise you to check yours for corrosion and smear some vaseline or silicon grease into the connector to prevent the ingress of moisture and corrosion.

I'm having it repaired by the dealer despite it being easy to do, as the copper cable itself is black and green with verdigris from the corrosion and will probably need replacing as I doubt solder will stick to it.

Try Hein Gericke

'Fraid this comes a bit late for swebb, but try Hein Gericke. They have just the jobbie in their catalogue. I think I paid about £6 for one at my local branch - tho' it had to be ordered in.

John Deere Tractors or any agricultural suppliers will do them, and for a hell of a lot less money and aggro than TT.
