BMW SOS...... Tracker ?

The tracker location is on the connected app on the phone. It shows the location on me (Phone) and the location of the bike.

You get that with the TFT-DISPLAY AND BMW MOTORRAD CONNECTED APP nothing to do with the SOS system. And for the first mile only.

Mr Stone henge
Can you please read my post again.
I clearly state, That combining the SOS with the maps in the connected it could be used possible as a tracker ? As the SOS is connected to its own simcard / network.
It was a question.
Now,with the connected app. It isn't only the first mile, its continuous. There is s setting "Recorded tours" in the App. The 3000 miles ive just done to spain and back is recorded. Accurately.
Hope this helps you ?

OK; as a fuller answer to your thoughts. I can confirm that insurance companies class the connected drive system you get with Pro Navigation in cars as a tracker; it is classed as such by my insurance company with my 5 series. You can't use it as a personal tracker as they use the first mile rule (so you can find the car in a car park but can't spy on the whereabouts of your missus for example - data protection and all that). The bike system is different as you need the ignition on (the car system doesn't). Therefore, there is no (policy) way that the current system can be configured as a tracker for general use (to be used by the police or insurance companies). The technology is there already on the bike, but I would guess that many riders would not like their riding data to be easily read by the insurance or police services unless they ride like The Missenden Flyer all the time. Hope this helps, which is all I was intending to do.

Yes post #21 is the way to go. But with all the stuff on the bike as it is, I was wondering if it could be used. As has been said, maybe a second or third generation SOS will have this facility in the near future.

Well it it is like the TFT Nige, my bike was a April 2017 build and cannot have the TFT, so I reckon the tight barstewards at BMW will do the same with the newer bikes, and newer SOS tracking options, its all about software, nothing really physical.

I couldn't live without it:green gri
My Triple black was awesome. But the new bike, with TFT, SOS and a free factory alarm is better.
Do it, you know you want to :D
