My Dealer emailed this to me today, it looks interesting.

Has anybody seen one...are they waterproof?

The all-new Street AIR Dry Jacket combined with the Street AIR Vest heralds a new chapter in protective motorcycle clothing. This new jacket brings levels of protection previously only available to the world’s elite MotoGP riders to anyone riding a bike. Unlike some other products on the market which require the bike to be modified or the rider to be attached by a lanyard, this exciting new product works with no external fittings or attachments required.

The Street AIR Dry vest contains hi-tech components which, when activated, constantly monitor the wearer's movements and react when an accident is detected. Within 85 milliseconds, less time than the blink of an eye (400 milliseconds average), the sensors can activate and fully deploy the integrated airbag which protects the neck, shoulders, collarbones and shoulder blades to a level previously unattainable with conventional body armour. With up to 25 hours of riding from a single battery charge, you really can make life a ride.

Moderator, just had an afterthought, you may want to move my above posting to the clothing dept? :augie

Hi Batman
I haven't got one but if you look through the link to the section 'Advantages at a glance' the first box says it's fully waterproof.

:D

They were listed in the 2016 BMW RIDE catalogue at £1220, that was earlier in the year so they may have had a price increase since the pound has plummeted so well!

The outer shell is based on the BMW GS DRY jacket and the internal vest is the same as the Alpinestars version.

Yesterday I found the BMW Street Air Dry jacket (the shell) listed on the BMW-motorrad-store website listed for £325, I can't find the listing now so suspect it's been taken down. The Alpinestars air tech insert is upwards of £900 so buying the full kit from BMW would probably make more sense. Nice shell on its own though.

Found it, next question, how is it waterproofed...pro-shell, internal gortex liner, etc. I like the look of it, and some Klim and possibly Rukka jackets cost more than this without the air bag crash system.

It has an internal Goretex liner (Z-liner), not Pro-shell style.

Hope this helps,

John

Thanks John, I think that is what is called a performance shell, the waterproof liner lives just under the outer shell, but is not a removable liner. Pity I would have hoped that a jacket with such a brilliant crash technical ability would have had a pro-shell.
Still it looks good.
