BMW unveil new WC 1200 R and RS

I thought the RS was a picture of a Fazer. It's a sports tourer and the colour options are blue/grey and... grey. :barf
The R in black with gold forks looks like a modern 9T without the style.

Like the RS myself.

But I did own a r 1200 ST so what do I know. LoL

The R1200RS could make a great "do-it-all" bike.

Enough power for sports and touring- one or two-up, with the grunt and engine-braking of the big twin.

I'm slightly confused. I was under the impression that the new sport tourer (multistrada competitor) was going to be S1000 based rather than a boxer. When I was in Benhams at the weekend the talk was all about the new S1000 based MultiStrada killer. :nenau

I think the R1200 RS is a great looking bike though.

your getting mixed up with the S1000F thats defo on its way this year

Will try the RS.

Out in the Spring I understand...

I too was a bit disapointed that the XR wasnt announced at Cologne. However I wouldnt buy one as I have a new S1000R and a new Adventure I picked uo yesterday.

However as I have sold my Harley I really really fancy the Ducati Scrambler- my type of bike to be honest.

I see the telelever having more of an advantage on the longer travel suspension bikes such as the GS/GSA - not convinced it is much of a loss on bikes like the RS where decent conventional forks will in practise do a better job with less weight ;)

I'd have thought they would have held back with these until they sorted their build quality problems out with the WC engines.

Agreed, if the bike is spec'ed to have only 5.5" or less of suspension travel, forks work pretty well.

That assumes there have been wide spread quality control issues with the WC engines other than the internet hysteria that forums like this create ;)

......and how long would you now like BMW to hold off launching any new models - 6 months, 12 months 10 years until they are certain they will have a zero failure rate :comfort

New Models

Is the lack of the Telelever not just about cost cutting.?

I have a R Nine as well as a GS LC and when you compare the two side by side the build quality does vary with the R nine being the winner.

Whilst we moan, that's just the way it is in the motor industry and I guess if you don't like it buy elsewhere.

But when you ride the LC GS your don't really care about the build quality ( Frame welding ) for example as the performance and handling are way better than before.:aidan
