BMW unveil new WC 1200 R and RS

If they have that adaptive suspension on the front which I bet they will, it will be phenomenal for ride quality.
The S1000r and rr with that kit are just amazing. Even the press say it's the best road suspension they have tested.
Fingers crossed, the RS will be in my garage next year.

This trend of streetfighter style headlight doesn't do anything for me. I like proper headlights on a bike.

Bods moan like buggery over their 'proper headlights' on their GS's, spending pounds upon pounds on HID's and spotlights.

I was very tempted to put my name down for a RS now but reading the blurb,Panniers are splash proof!!! WTF.
No mention or pics showing centre stand? And the front mudguard!! Well half of a mudguard. M.H. Will be busy designing a front engine guard already.

RS, another bike from BMW where the "styling" is little more than a random collection of ugly plastic mouldings clipped together.

It's a good business model, obviously.:thumb

Me?

I like them both.

As for the the panniers being splash proof, that's either a dodgy German translation or they are not fully waterproof. If the latter, so what. Put a Goretex or similar bag inside. It's not hard and you'll still get to Tesco.

Failing that, strap some soft luggage on, olde stileeee.

Website says the stealer-supplied inner bags are waterproof. Maybe describing panniers as splash-proof is a new sales technique, designed to boost inner sales!

Agreed ..... it's not the end of the world as we know it and certainly not a deal breaker

The German BMW Motorrad website states that the panniers are splash proof and watertight inner bags are optional. The top case is watertight.

I find myself drawn to the RS in the same way that I find myself drawn to Julia Bradbury (is she a Tosser?) - strangely attractive, but not pretty.
Has overtones of HP2 Sport in the blue and white, presume that's intentional.

I've always thought Julia Bradbury was a man then I read somewhere the other day that she is with child

I agree, the current R1200R is better looking and more distinct.

Ditching the Telelever is a good thing though, one of the common complaints about the R1200R was that it was a rough rife for you hands and arms which I found too.

The Telelever arm is a heavy chunk of metal (on the hexheads anyway). Unsprung weight will put vibration into the handlebars.

If the designers had attached the front shock close to the ball joint, that swing arm could be a fraction of the weight. But such a style snag - back shock is vertical front should match.

A Hossack front end would have been cheaper to build and more likely to avoid the weight issues.
Old Norman used to sell conversion kits for the early K series BMWs.
