BMW won't sell you parts.......

After reading the forums on how to power your satnav,i walked into my friendly BMW Dealership in Belfast,wanting to buy the can bus socket that plugs into the harness near the headstock.....

And the answer i got was "Sorry BMW don't allow us to sell you that part,as it's a workshop only fitment"

Anyone else have a similar experience?

yep, i phoned quite a few places trying to get a socket and they wouldnt sell it as "they had to fit them" but there are also many delaers that will sell them

My local dealer said - " those are not for resale, we'll have it for you tomorrow".

Just a case of trying enough dealers, also I do hear you can get them from BM car dealers.

I had no problems buying mine over the counter at Pidcocks

You're a sharp one there Davy, and it it turn aided my lie in today as I couldn't be arsed getting up for work today. In fact as your were posting I was just turning over mate. Nice day might take the bike out though, ha!

Bristol Motorad will not sell them but good old (he's not really old) Mike from Cardiff Motorad no problem.

I got mine (as per photo in the 'How to' article here) from Bristol Motorrad.....mind you the not too special 'customer service' there seems worse than ever now - think I'll be visiting your chap in Cardiff for futures services.
