I know BMW are doing a new Zumo GPS which I am thinking of getting. Anybody got/tried one? Looks like a good unit to me. I'm off to the BMW dealers this week to have a look. Apparently they've just started doing them and their taking over from the BMW Navigator III.

You can search threads/post. There is loads of useful advice - for example

By all accounts - the only significant difference is the price :(

Why are some people willing to pay twice the price just to get the BMW badge?

And look at the bottom line of their info below....http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/uk/en/index.html

Included with the BMW Motorrad Zumo:

* BMW Motorrad ZUMO
* Mount Cradle with audio OUT for voice output and MP3 player (stereo), audio IN for microphone, port for optional TMC receiver.
* MapSource City Navigator Europe NT DVD, 2008 version, including enabling code for Europe, map-data stock preinstalled on the device
* Printed instructions for use in 11 European languages.
* 12V connecting cable for connection to optional-accessories socket (for use on the motorcycle).
* Power supply unit (100-240V, 50-60 Hz) with adapters for Europe and UK
* USB connecting cable
* Safety screwdriver
* Carry-bag.

Motorcycle-specific mounts are not included and must be bought separately.

So you buy a motorcycle GPS and have to pay extra for the motorcycle mount!!!!! BMW through and through that.

I just ordered my Zumo 550, online from Lemon. £380 all in. Seems like the best deal about. Next thing is to get down to Autocom after Christmas and get a good audio set up.

have a look into bluetooth systems, i havent tried autocom but i am more than happy with my cardo scala teamset:thumb2. join the zumo forum a great source of info

Warning!

Think twice before you buy a BMW Zumo! It has a limited set of features compared with a standard Zumo.

I don't know exactly what they have taken out of the software but one thing I know is that it is not possible to operate the BMW Zumo while driving (!). It appears that "Safety Mode" is locked in "safe" position.

Imagine yourself riding on a motorway a rainy day in heavy traffic. Imagine that you need gas. With a BMW Zumo your must halt your bike before you can order the Zumo to guide you to the nearest gas station. Safe? :eek

Sorry, but that's just wrong, with the latest software, the BMW ZUMO is exactly the same as a 550 Zumo, everything is the same. Only difference I can see, is BMW roundels to mark Motoradd dealers. Works perfectly OK on the move.

Good to hear that they have fixed this. :thumb2 My info was quite old.

If it is the same - what is the point in buing it when a standard Zumo 550 cost less? :confused:

Well I just bought my bike today (07' GS Adventure), standard Zummo 550 should be here tomorrow, looks like a fun weekend for me!!! :D
