I can't work out what market the Xcountry is aimed at?

KTM 640 Enduro, Husquvarna T610, Honda XR650L etc me thinks. The weight is very competively choosed by BM this time. Plus HP2 rear Conti air shock.

If they get suspension right, then it kicks KTM & Husky arse with mucho reliable and mucho less maintenance needing bomb proof Rotax engine (10Kkm intervals according to their specs). Probably only Honda XR-L comes close in engine's reliability.

Too early to tell tho...

And i have my doubts about the suspension.

Could they possibly have made the HP2 any more uglier ? Hideous.

Quite like the look of an Xcountry - aimed at commuters who want to use un tarmacced roads ?

loads of 'em over here :thumb

You took the words out of my mouth....whats all that about. I recon the G650X will be a cracking little bike and could see the demise of teh F650PD.

Does anyone know if these will be at the bike show and any price guides as yet???

Nice to see BMW branching out all the time :thumb

Interesting that they haven't fitted belt drive to the new 650's . I think ktm need to pull thier finger out and get the 690 lc4 model out sharpish. the old LC4 has been left to stagnate for far too long.

Dull, uninspiring and downright ugly bikes IMO. There's not one of them that I would even remotely consider buying.

Iain,
I don't think we'll see a belt drive off road bike for a long time to come. If you get any stones inbetween the belt and the cogs apparently it shreds them in an instant. Chain is fine for smallwer capacity offroaders.

Don't think so. The naked R has becomed a cult bike already.

Is that why BMW have just lopped £1650 off the retail price ?

(it's brilliant,as I found out on a road test,but doesn't appear to be selling much-bit like the HP2,I guess.

Perhaps I'm the only one who likes them.I think they've done a good job and will reach BMW out to a much wider audience.Sales will depend upon the pricing being competitive. The more cash BMW can generate, the more R&D they have available for further products and product enhancements, and that includes our beloved GS range. :thumb

It is a stunning looking beast, I have seen dates from Sept 2006 for release thro to March 2007 when it goes on sale. No prices yet.

It will be untouchable in the right hands.
