I agree with almost everything Ricardo has posted, but if all else fails and you destroy the threads ....

....buy a new caliper!

down there you never trow anything away ,,maimi is way to far plus very expensive...

I do agree is not super safe and for sure not the best solution.
very III world country

i would have no qualms about having damaged thread helicoiled.

Have you got it out yet ?
If not this should work.

Get a decent impact driver ( snap-on )
Get a large 3/8" flat ended punch and hammer

Hammer the punch on top of the bolt head - this will indent the hex causing it to get smaller - back to original size - also the shock MAY break the corrosion.

Get the next size up imperial allen tool bit for the impact driver and hammer it into the reformed Hex.

Fit the impact driver to the allen driver, press in and apply downwards anti-clockwise pressure to the impact driver to engage the cam action in the tool.

belt seven bales out of it - all the while turning anti clockwise.

If this doesnt shift it - reform the bolt head again with the punch - repeat ad infinitum

It's out !!!!

Thanks for all the tips and advice everyone - solved the problem with a little bit of gentle heat - more warmth than heat....and a stud extractor. Nice to know we have some good sound advice on do's and don'ts and as I think I read somewhere...." if it ain't broke fix it till it is...." will now become my motto :D

Thanks all - beers all round at the hog roast  :beerjug:
