Got my 2006 56 Plate GS booked in with Steptoe tomorrow. Looking forward to it, as I hear nothing but excellent reports. It's overdue on it's 42k service by a few hundred miles, missed an annual one too :augie

Last service was at 36k, by BMW Cotswold. But given it's age I strongly considered DIY service this time around, as I do all my own work on the cars. But the bike is worth something, compared to cars, so tad nervous about doing that.

Rang around a few indies, one guy with his mobile truck wanted £450 for 42k service :eek: - Told him politely no to that, BMW would be less!

Steptoe's price could not be beat, it's also just a few miles off my commute. So Win Win.

Recently had my 42 done. 2 Bmw dealers quoted £310 which included changing a clutch cable(supplied). Had steptoe do it as more convenient and it was even cheaper. 450 is way overpriced
 
I'd not employ the services of a company that don't give a proper address on their website. If for any reason you have a problem all you have is a mobile and email address.

Are you trying to defend a price of £450 for a 42 thousand mile service from a small independent BMW specialist?

Well seeing as you asked so nicely read and digest the following:

My GSA is booked in to NOG for a 54k service next week and they quoted me £272 including the use of a courtesy bike. I thought that was a tad expensive so told them I will be supplying my own oil as I bought a shit load of Castrol Power 1 10/40 (£2.50 per litre) when they had it on offer at Tesco last year so got the price down to £187.10

How your man in a van can come up with a price of £450 for what is a basic/intermediate service is beyond me so perhaps you can explain it?

PS my 48k service which NOG did last year was less than £400 so go figure? :augie

To clarify, I rang a fee Indies, some came back around £200, quite a few said they could not check timing?

I was staggered at £450 quote.
