Just a little heads up if you use Booking.com. Last few weeks I have spam emails/app messages claiming to be booking.com....asking me to update card details and other such things. These are total spam, as confirmed by customer service @ booking.com. The requests look very professional and seem to have alot of my info..apart from card numbers obviously.

I had several last year, I was savvy enough to contact Booking.com separately to raise a concern about it….. before taking action! They confirmed a data breach and said I did the right thing. If you’re saying this has happened again then I doubt I’ll be using them from now on.

I have been using google maps to find hotels for 2026 trips. They give you prices at all the big players, sometimes the direct price from the hotel and a link direct to the hotel if it has a website.

The prices going direct are often better and come with other benefits like free parking, included breakfast and half board options you do not see on the big sites because the hotel's margin is eaten up by the commission.

If I use a major booking site, I use Expedia or its hotels.com subsidiary by preference. Often 10% cashback via Topcashback as well as their own reward programme.

They’ve just updated the PIN numbers on a couple of bookings in July ‘for security reasons’. To me that indicates a breach of some sort?

Exactly what I have just had sent...so you think the messages are genuine? Booking.com did reply to me and said it was genuine...but I was'nt sure that their reply was genuine!

I've had this with Booking.com too. I phoned the hotel and they were aware. They were already liaising with Booking about it.

If you reply to the email or WhatsApp message you’re replying to the scammer.

Contact Booking.com through the app or call the hotel directly.

The message came from the booking.com app...aswell as email. I obviously contacted booking.com...but as i stated above...the reply from them also came to the app...hence wondering if both were possible scams. There has definitely been a security issue somewhere I think.

I’ve had a couple of these this year. I’ve never found booking that great when I’ve pointed out my personal data has been breached violating dpa/gdpr

My suspicion is it’s not booking themselves but the hotels where I’m staying at that have been hacked as it’s always been smaller independent hotels where I suspect they probably have less it support etc.
