Bootable USB Drive

Does anyone know if, or how, I can install windows to an external USB hard drive and use that as my main boot device ?

Is it possible ?

Any altering the BIOS ?

Any special HD type ?

Does it matter whether FAT or NTFS ?

Some useful info here, but the most important issue is whether your system BIOS supports USB bootable disks, a lot don't.
