Hi All,
I'm in need of some new boots, must be with gore-tex (feed up of wet feet)

Now the problem (no sniggers please:augie)
I have big feet (a wide 12 or a 13) and large calves:blast

Does anyone know of anything suitable? I don't need full on motocross boots, rather adventure/touring boots

TIA
Neil

the new Sidi adventure boot. Although, I think Sidi's are narrow. Daytona's have a wide fitting - I have the transopen's which I used ona 6000 mile Europe trip, highly recommended, very comfortable, no leaks and good protection.

Hi Berin,:beerjug:
Tried the largest Sidi boot and if I got the foot right (was a 49) I couldn't do the calf size (was far to tight)

Cheers
Neil

PS

Already gor the short Daytona Journey, but they only come a few inches above the ankle, so water comes in the top.
If I can find some TCX Infinity's to try locally I'll give feedback

Altberg get a fab write-up in the club mag, and always get good reports. I have Daytona and they have lasted very well, but for made-to-measure, I think Altberg are the ones.

Altbergs for me too, seems like a bit of hassle visiting to be measured, then having to collect the boots, but they check the fit and will adjust them while you wait all in the price.

I was fed up of cold feet too. I got the Alpinestars web boot, they're touring boots, goretex and changed my life. I wear thin socks no matter the weather, my feet have never got cold, never got wet, even when completley submerged in a flood. I am size 13, they will work on large calves and even some cows I believe they are brilliant. Plus they only cost 80-100 quid - summit like that.

I am a 13/48 in almost any footware I have bought for the last 30 years. I have a pair of daytona boots, size 48, that are very comfortable and dry.

I decided to buy a pair of tcx infinities last year and in the shop they were great. On most of the rides I did at the time they measured up to expectations.

Then I did a 6k mile, 3 week tour and they bit me bad. The width and size on short 1 to 2 hour journeys did not show up any problems. However wearing them for 8-12 hours a day showed that they were just a little shorter than the daytonas, maybe by only a couple of mm, but it was enough that by the end of the trip I was almost willing to toss them in the bin.

I still use them on my shorter trips when I know they will be coming off at the end of it. On the longer ones it will be the Daytonas.

Daytona :thumb

They do "larger sizes" too. I tried a few pairs on and once I had the size and style, I ordered them from Germany and saved myself £100.00 into the bargain.

I agree that TCX Infinity and Altberg are the ones, based on all the write-ups.
I'd like to try though, so are they available retail? Anyone know?
