Looking for a pair of new boots - my Styl Martins are 10 yrs old now and already glued one sole back in and never been waterproof.... so looking for a good boot with Goretex or similar. Seen good reviews of the TCX Infinity gore-tex and Hein Gericke do the same version (by all accounts made in the same factory), but about £30 cheaper. Anyone got experience with either? Worth paying the extra for the TCX?

I have a HG because I am a tight git :D

Used to in pissing rain and in sunny weather. Has been good. HG changed the first pair under warranty. Replacement has been fine.

Probably duff info but I'm sure I was told a 2 year warranty... I'll have a word next time I'm in HG.. just done a google search for 'Hein Gericke 2 year warranty' and it seems I'm not alone :thumb

:comfort :D

I've got a pair of alpinestars goretex touring boots - the 'web' they're called. The best I have ever had. My feet used to get cold and with some boots a little damp and a trickle of water in heavy rain would find its way in, with these nothing. My feet have never ever been cold or damp or wet and they've been completely submerged at times. Amazing. I will never wear anything else. Highly reccomend.

Another :thumb for the HG boots had them for about 4/5 years never leaked, warm comfy, a good boot, it maybe worth a look at the Sidi Adventure it's Goretex as well and looks good, no idea on price though

You should be able to get the TCX for the same price. They're going to be my next purchase (unless I win the lottery & buy the Daytona Trans Open GTX)

Having looked at both (& the BMW Santiago which are the same as well), the TCX just look better on the little details to me - gear shift pad on foot etc.

The TCX are only £10 more at HelmetCity & that's only cos I've seen them there, sure you can get them for the HG price.

+1 for the TCX. Drove from Inverness to Chester last week in driving rain the whole way. Not a single leak. Good for walking too....

The fit of the Daytona Trans Open and the TCX Infinty is very different. Apart from being larger size-for-size, the Daytonas are made for a much wider foot than the TCX.

Daytonas are for Orcs while TCX are for Elves.......:augie

Additional info req'd

I'm also thinking about the infinity as well, but need info on foot width, ankle size and calf size which I can't seem to find on the net.

Anyone with either size 12 or 13 that could have a measure up for me:thumb2

PS

On evilBay at the moment you can get a pair for £165 inc P&P:clap

Cheers in advance
Neil

i have a pair of size 12 i have quite narrow feet and need reasonably thick insoles for a good fit (they are the best fitting bike boots i have had) not sure i could do justice to the measurements you would probably be better off going to HG to try a pair before you buy them off the net :thumb
