In true mukluk tradition....

...snow-mobiling boots sold in the Great North Shield area of Canada and USA usually have soles about 2 - 2/12 inches thick (felt, cork and rubber in layers). Dirt cheap in any Walmart etc.

Ok for winter over here; but steady on or you'll get Madura foot fungus in the summer months.

I've a nice set of "Cuban" heeled boots, with a stack sole , if you need a pair :D :D

Timpsons

Timpsons will put you on a new heel and sole on your existing boots which will give you around 2cm extra height, been using that method for a couple of years, perfect for the vertically challenged !! cost in my local Timpsons is £39-95:beer:

listen

listen civil do you not know that low seat = sore hole and from what i hear john o kane is not the sore hole type of guy

i have bought 2 pairs of daytonas from louis.de and one pair from fcmoto.de (as an xmas pressie for a civil friend) both are miles cheaper than local suppliers

half-empty one, watch out with these boots. You may find you suddenly have the urge to aquire a smart black uniform, peaked cap, Poland, Belgium, Holland. Sudetland, Russia, et al.

By coincidence, I've just received a pair of Daytona M-Stars ordered from louis.de a week ago.

First impressions are that they don't actually help a lot. I have an 1150GSA with the BMW low seat, and with my 31" inside leg I either get tiptoes down on either side or the ball of one foot well planted on one side. With the M-Stars the extra height you get is all in the heel, so it doesn't help in reaching the ground with your forefoot. It just makes it marginally easier to get one foot flat without having to shuffle so far to one side on the seat. And this advantage seems to be undone by the fact that the soles of the boots are quite slippery - I had a couple of iffy moments this morning on the way to work, once stopping with a foot down on a painted line and once at a junction where the road surface is a kind of polished cement block, and I haven't noticed this problem in two years of riding the same route with my old boots. I hope that the soles will get a bit grippier as they get more scuffed.

In any event, it doesn't look like these boots are the solution to the short arse/tall bike problem that I hoped they'd be. Time to start saving for a Wunderlich superlow seat.

already practising the goose step ;)

i have the low seat too, the gsa feels fine when i wear my jeans and walking boots, but when i put my textile suit and sidi vetabrae's on, my ankle movement is restricted and ony my tiptoes touch down, hope ive made the right choice with the
daytona m-stars, only time will tell.

I have decided to go for a replacement rear shock from Hagon - to reduce height by 30mm.

I will put up a post when I have some experience of fitting this and determining how well it works and whether or not it affects performance.

daytone m star gtx

just been out for my first ride in the daytona m star gtx boots,
i now feel a lot safer at standstill than with my sidi vertabrae's on,
i only have to move my butt about an inch to get a foot flat down and i can get the balls of both my feet down on flat ground. only problem was gear changing, i will have to adjust the lever to suit the thicker boots. vibration through the footpegs has also been reduced and is barely noticable, they are also a very warm boot, my feet are usually really cold but the boots kept them toastie :)

Bronco Billy has 'lifts' in his boots too...............not sure what make they are but i'm sure he will come on soon and let you guys know(short arsed feckers!!):D
