the pipe i was looking at was a bos gp1 ,but found out today they dont do that model for the 12gs :( ,as they are a slip on with link pipe i cant see why they dont fit :nenau ,can only be because it will catch on rear foot rest hanger due to its shape??? has any tryed one or do they know why they dont fit ?????

Lot of differing factors involved. diameter of link pipe, angle of bends, position of hanger if bolted to can.....

i can buy an ovel boss exhaust with link pipe for 12gs ,so why does same link pipe not fit boss gp1 ? as they both have the same fittings from end can to link pipe , does anyone know why ? it was just a simple question not a gussing game thunder :dabone like i say is it because shape of can [triangle/diamound] will hit rear foot hanger :nenau

Well the present BOS full system fouls on the new cente stand design on my GSA 1200. This will be the same on all of the o6 bikes. Bit of a bummer ehh!!!

JNC, I was not making it a guessing game, simply mentioning some of the factors which can be different from bike to bike and therefore effect the ability to fit a can not specifically designed for a paticular bike.

THere is no guarantee for example that the link pipe diameter or method of connecting to the can will be the same for the 1200 and a bike that the GP1 was designed for and this is more complicated as BOS do not use a collar mount for their cans but one that is bolted to the can itself.

IF you really want a triangular profile can then you could look at Laser who have recently listed their Hot Cam for the 1200 gs.

Is the GSA centre stand different in design from the standard 06 GS do you know?

I have a Remus full system on mine and while it's designed for 04 bikes onwards with the old stand it does not cause any fouling, just has a centre stand stop on the link pipe which is redundant.

Thunder. You're ok with a Remus front "Y" piece but not the BOS "Y" piece because the BOS system pipe is further over towards the springs of the newly designed (and better) center stand. I have a Remus "Y" piece that I bought second hand and I'm going to use that with the BOS link piece (need to buy) and the BOS silencer. All this because I like Jesse panniers

BOS would need to update the info on their website, thye don't list the system by model years and it's a big issue for those with the new stand.

Just to clarify, when you say "Y piece" your talking about the complete front pipes?

I know a y piece was used on previous models to ditch the cat, and it may seem pedantic but just in case it causes confusion. :thumb

Yes - I am talking about the front pipes that replace the cat. BOS will need to produce new pipes for the 06 model and GSA. Generally happy with the Remus front pipes as there is loads of clearance all around, but I don't like the Remus titanium silencer that I have (fit and angle). That's why I need this link pipe to put the BOS silencer on to the Remus front pipes.

Hi wilbjr21,
Just been reading your thread regarding Remus y pipe. I have just fitted a Remus down pipes to my 12gs but do not want to fit the remus end can because they are a little noisey for me, do you know whether i can fit the Bos end can to the remus as they appear to be a little quieter. :nenau

You should be able to fit any after market end can to the Remus pipes, as the pipes can fit with the stock end can , any aftermarket can with link pipe will be able to fit with them.

I had a Laser can and the stock can fitted with no problem.

I know earlier you mentioned Jesse panniers, is there an issue with the Remus can and the Jesses?

Ironically I picked up a Remus Titanium off Ebay and I really like it. Thank goodness we are all different when it comes to likes and dislikes :D

No - the issue is with the standard silencer as there is not much of a gap between the standard end can and the panniers. The use of an after-market can (Remus or BOS) solves the problem. Just a matter of personal choice between Remus and BOS - as you say.

Like Thunder said - fitting is not a problem. Look on the BOS web site,
http://www.bos-exhausts.com/bmw-eng-pond/index-bmw.html and open the pdf file for the silencer. The BOS silencer is quieter than the Remus - another reason I like it.
