Has anyone got or tried an Ipod with the Bose docking speaker thingummyjig???
I fancy getting rid (in the attic) or all my CD's and playing them through an Ipod and some form of speaker systems, don't want a huge amp and the wife doesn't want big speakers so Bose look good. Comments???

Yes, get them both, I use a 20 gig ipod and have a bose soundock in the dining room. The sound it puts out is nothing short of astonishing.

It also charges the ipod while its in there and is remote control.

Highly recomended

Cheers for that, i managed to locate one on demo at my local hifi shop this morning. Awesome sound for something so small, Bose's specialism I suppose, best sell sometthing so i can afford to buy one.

My mate uses one out by his swimming pool - fantastic sound for something so small

Has anyone compared the Bose with the JBL On Stage speaker (the one that looks like a doughnut)?

Is the Bose worth £100 more?

I was quite impressed with the JBL one and the Bose, but never tried them side by side, one after another.

My mates got one of the Bose speakers, I couldn't believe the sound quality and bass from something so small. Amazing bit of kit.

You didn't see the bass bin then?:D

Seriously though they are very good. I've got the Acoustimass 5 system and the sound is wonderfully clear and detailed. Very natural without being over heavy on the bass.

Cheers

the sound is definitely much better but you have to ask - what do you want it for...? If it's to sit in the one room, then you can get excellent sound from a set of Harmon Kardon Soundsticks or similar.

ipod/Bose

Before I go I buy the necessary piece of wire...........

I know that you can create sound from the earphone socket from Ipod to a normal stereo system but can you do it from a bose system?
I have the Lifestyle series 2. As the amp is in the Bass box and the earplug socket is in the control unit, I just wondered.

Can anyone help?

I got a JBL OnStage off eBay for £56 - it doesn't give "room stereo quality" reproduction, but I'm happy with it. I've got other better musak players at home anyway but for £56 compared to £126 at John Lewis, or £250 for the Bose I'm well pleased with it and would recommend it!

Neil.

Yes you can, I have a Lifestyle sytem and have bought an extra dock station which I now sit next to the Lifestyle unit from the dock or ipod you connect a headphone to rca type connectore (red/white) to the Aux input and hey presto all works fine. If your lifestyle can have multiple zones (forget which ones do and don´t) then you can have your iPod playing to one room and cd or radio to another. Only issue with the multi room system the remote for the lifestyle works from just about anywhere but no control of iPod.

Lunsarboy,
Oh, that's excellent.
Thanks so much for that, I shall sort that out.

Did you know for extra laziness Apple now do a remote for the ipod?!!
