Anyone found a use for the bottle holder in the r/h fuel tank. I am thinking of tool roll holder. It seems a shame too waste the space.

Eh?

Forgive me, I'm new here. My brand new GSA just arrived last Friday. I'm looking forward to getting the running in service done this weekend (not looking forward to paying for it though!) so I can ride it properly...4000 rpm comes up too quickly!

Is this a joke or am I being really dumb? Bottle holder? In the fuel tank? Please explain.

I wasn't sure about this myself! I believe there's a charcoal canister fitted to US models to trap petrol fumes and wonder if this would fit in the 'bottle' holder (just a guess)?

when looking at the front of the bike from down by the front wheel there is a cut out in the fuel tank which is designed to house something specific to US bikes. Alby is looking for ideas as to what could usefully fill this space.

There's your answer, Alby. (He's been fretting about that void for a week or so now, haven't you?) Happy now? :D

Bottle

The space is adequate for several hid ballasts, or a tool tube and ... To secure it use velcro bolts/screws with the two integrated mounting points.

Trouble is to me US bike means broken ( Un Serviceable ) does this mean that I'll find a use for it if/when it brakes down. Question now is what do the spams get for the void ?

Having had a look at this thread on ADVrider it seems the 'bottle holder' is for the charcoal canister :rob

Actually that thread describes fitting a Stebel horn compressor into the space, I might have to contemplate a further farkle of that nature once I've HID'd my lights :idea

:thumbnice one thanks..
now why charcoal ??

I've tried HID in there, it might work but I'm concerned about all that HT next to a fuel tank.

I believe it's a California thing. The charcoal canister is connected to the fuel tank vent to absorb the fumes that may be given off. Used to be at the back end beside the shocker on previous model years.

I haven't been able to find much of a used for the space.:(

The GSA has a round hole, the '08 GS has a clip between the tank edge and the air intake as per image below which I believe is also for the American canister.

Note sure if anyone has come up with anything clever to put in the GS location either (other than HID ballasts anyway)

I put the trumpet of my air horns here. Protected from the rain and out of site; however you can still hear them!!
