Hi everyone just bought a GSA w in green so excited get her next. Weekend yay!!!
Thanks for all the advice everyone

Just a quick on the ankees are a bit squared of on the rear although 5mm of tread

What's everyone reckon suits the bike mainly road but looking to be able to do some off road and get her nice an mucky when the mood takes :)

Sorry for posting a tyre thread just my phone sucks at searching

Cheers

Tom

Quite fancy Conti TKC70 next, people I spoke to are talking of really good mileages on it. Didn't like Anakees (square off too easily) tourance nexts have been pretty good 6k rear

+1 for the TKC70. I commute on them as well as lanes and weekend blats. Great all rounder if you adjust to their limitation which in my view is high speed stability but which you only notice on the autobahn if you get my drift.

Ye, tkc 70s.superb grip on and off road.just a little unstable at speed.improve if you crank the pre load up a notch.

I and many others have had problems with the TKC70 on the WC GSA. In particular the front wheel is very light and front-end weave is common at 70+ mph. A quick search will bring up the threads, but it seems only to be on the WC GSA, and not everyone at that. My tyres were taken off and are with Conti now for examination.

I've now got PR4s fitted and they are simply awesome.

ahhh cheers mate Ill steer clear of the tkc 70 for now then :)

have you had the pr4's off road? or am I better sticking with the Anakee III's for a little bit of off road capability

anyone used the metzler options?

Many thanks,

Tom

I've used the PR4s a few times on the Salisbury Plain's hard packed trails when it has been dry, but I wouldn't do it if it were wet or muddy. With the Annakee 3s I got through 2 rears and 1 front, and thought they were a reasonable all-round tyre (though the back end stepped out on a couple of road corners when I would not have expected it to). Again, I wouldn't take them anywhere off road that was wet or muddy. In my mind pretty much any tyre can cope with hard dry trails, but of the commonly fitted tyres, only something knobbly like the TKC80 (especially at the front) can cope with any sort of mud.

I've not been able to provoke any bad behaviour on the road from the PR4s, they transform the bike's handling and stick superbly to the road, wet or dry. I've only ever had dual-sports tyres on my other GS's, so was hesitant about fitting road tyres (partly because it might affect the 'look' of the bike) but without a doubt it was the right decision for me.

thanks Max really appreciate the reply :)

very much looking forward to my baby arriving on Saturday really didn't want to leave her yesterday lol

Lovely bike and I'm pleased you got the best colour as well...:D

Is that the regular size (albeit smoked) GSA screen or a GS screen?

It's a GS tinted screen on a GSA, I've done the exactly same thing as I think it looks neater, I've also brought the tinted winglets which also look good.

Steele01 ! Wow , someone else here thats not 50 or over !
Bloody great !! get your mates involved in biking and save its future !

Is nobody running Conti Trail Attacks?

I am, no complaints at all, I got 5500 miles out of the first pair on my GSA LC the front would have done another 1000 or so miles but changed both which is slightly more than I got out of the same tyre on my previous GSA Twin cam which I consider pretty good.
I think they offer plenty of grip and offer good levels of feel and are totally predictable in the wet or dry, I'm not about to swap to another tyre type anytime soon.

Having not had much luck with the PR4 Trail front tyre (wobble documented in other thread) I'm not actually enjoying the rear either. Its got 1200 miles on it but squirms in tight corners rolling on the throttle. I don't think the tread pattern can handle the torque feels like the tread walls are collapsing under heavy load...

On my third set of Dunlop Trailmax's.:thumb A great tyre in my opinion.

Intrigued by the new Avon Trailriders though with their multi-compound structure.

Won't need a change before next Spring so maybe there will be more write-ups on them by then.

Smoked screen and winglets look really good. Im interested to hear how the GS screen works for you? I installed the large WRS screen but TBH it hasn't taken away all the buffeting and still getting quite a lot of wind noise. Let me know how its working for you?

PR 4 seems to be puncture prone I have had 2 in 2000 miles compared with only 2 in last 25 years on all sorts of other tyres . I might go for the new Avons as well . Previous experience with Avon some years ago was pretty good , gripped well enough and felt good on the road, at least as good as anything else I have tried
