Bought Streetguard 2, not sure if I like it!!!

Just bought the BMW Streetguard 2 jacket and trousers, I really liked the jacket, very comfortable and not to bulky but not so sure about the trousers. Bit of a shame since I've now spent a fortune on them!!

They are both size 54 (euro) but the trousers feel a little more bulky than I would like. I'll probably end up keeping them but would be interested to hear opinions or recommendations on something a little more light-weight??

I find the trousers very rigid but the jacket is superb.

Maybe you bought a size too big on the trousers? They do 3 variations (or more?) per waist size.

I find mine absolutely superb. The trousers are no problem and will soften up over time. Excellent kit.

They are slightly longer than ideal but probably the best compromise of the sizes available.

In reality I don't need the weather protection that the streetguard range provides, I could certainly get away with a more light-weight solution. I'll probably stick with them for the moment and try it out, see how I get on with it.

i find that they are great all weather gear. really fantastic when the weather really is awfull. only problem is the knee armour never stays in the place it should be. frustrating

I only bought the jacket which I love, comfortable and warm and dry.

Never bought the trousers in the end opting for Dainese which I prefer....

But that's probably my point, I don't really require this level of weather protection. Is there a good mid ground, something slightly less well engineered but more comfortable?? This applies mainly to the tousers, the jacket is excellent, although I wouldn't split the suit so it's both or nothing.

Your Streetguard 2 suit has both long and short zips for the jacket and trousers - the long zip is ideal for keeping out the draughts. I was out riding today in my Streetguard 1 combi in 1.5C temperatures, so I know.
The Streetguard 2 trousers are the only textile pants with a long zip as well as the short.
You also mention that the legs might be little too long.

You have a couple of alternatives
1) Try out the Streetguard 2 trousers in a size Euro 26 aka 54 SHORT - since the armour might stay in place better with a better fit around the knee area.
I am using size 26 at the moment.
2) Try out the Santiago trousers that come in sizes 26 and size 54 .These are medium weight with a detachable Goretex liner.
3) Try the Comfortshell trousers in a size 54. These are also lighter weight that the Streetguard with a different type of integral membrane.
4) Try the Tourance trousers in size XL. These have a detachable bib/brace which should be good for draught exclusion! To be superceded in March by the Tourance 2.

That depends on what colour Streetguard 2 jacket you have - black or tobacco?

It's a black suit.

I assume that will match reasonably well? Does the finish of the different suits vary substantially?

I have my Streetguard 2 suit for a little over 20,000 miles now - I have been mighty impressed with it I found the trousers fine - spent all day walking around the NEX show in them, the only problem was how warm they were (I had left the lining in )

Give 'em a few miles, they'll be fine

For my build the knee armour is a little low when walking around although rises into the right position when on the bike. Only had them last Friday so not actually ridden the bike with them on but sat on it in the garage to give them a try lol!

coat fine trousers not , im going to try a different size.The fact that the outer layer does not get saturated is what does it for me after various gortex lined jackets.

How much are you lookin for the bottoms? I bought the jacket 2 winters ago and its never leaked, but do need to wear plenty of layers for heat. Great jacket though!!

Presumably you have the armour adjusted into the higher position using the velcro closure at the bottom inside of the knee armour pocket?

I'll double check tomorrow, it's definitely worth a look.

I'm flying to Edinburgh next week and riding back on a G650 Xmoto that I've just bought as a second bike, should be able to assess the suit properly then - it's about 400 miles back to Cardiff!

Thats no problem, my original intention wasn't to sell it, I was looking for advice on possible alternatives that were a little less bulky. However Bill2rhino asked a question which I answered.
