Some of you may have seen the post I made last weekend confirming the closing down of Bowker BMW in Preston.

I was in there this week, as I’ve placed an order for some parts, and had a chat with them around stock clothing. They are doing deals on anything they currently hold and I got cost price (40% off) on a new jacket, so it may be worth popping in if you’re in the area… You get nothing if you don’t ask 😉

On a side point, I’d parked my GS outside and he mentioned that he’d seen something on Facebook where someone had put new forks on an old 1150. He couldn’t believe it when I said it was mine, sitting outside, so we killed another 15mins while he had a good look around it.

I bought my one and only new BMW from them. A 2016 GSA 1200 on PCP. Had it serviced there aswell....160 mile round trip. Went back when the 1250 came out to part ex and was offered a really bad deal. I know they had changed their sales manager, so not sure if that made a difference or not?
Always sad to see a dealer close, but wont be too bothered.

I had 30K to blow on a new bike a few years ago .I left a few messages for Mark the salesman to call me .He didn’t so went else where not been back since .So not surprised really
If that was Mark Christopher, I purchased an XR900 from him in 2023 and it was the best deal I had ever completed on a BMW. Mark was absolutely brilliant, returned all my phone calls and replied to all my emails, quickly and comprehensively. Top man in my honest experience.

I bought my last two bikes off Mark, it was a pleasure doing business with him.

How the mighty fall .... I took my X5 G05 into my local garage in Bolton. They were absolutely rammed with new and nearly new vehicles, polished up to high heaven sat under bright lights. The service desks have now been replaced by auto check-ins. Obviously in a cost cutting exercise, but the men in the ivory towers were still sat there. These auto check-ins left me cold. I eventually found a girl who said she could change my microfilter and oil for the whacking sum of £326., and they could do it the day after.

I left and went to a local BMW specialist who is linked to Munich for downloads, service records etc. and he and his staff are ex-BMW. They are going to do a full service for £100 less.

BMW are just going to take off their kipper ties, roll their sleeves up, and get stuck into the far eastern opposition who seem to be ruling the roost at the moment. Either that or they're going to have to face a really bumpy ride ahead.

They coped with the rise of the Japanese car manufacturers, and then the South Koreans, so I expect they will do as you suggest as they’ve already BTDT and have the playbook to work through it (I hope…)
