Ronnie FFS yae diddny drap yer bike again? c'moan tell is whit yae done noo?:popcorn

Ronno didn't drop his bike once :augie

Well, that was an interesting day out.

I met Cunning Fox at McDonalds at the FRB at 10:27 and we decided to meet Ronno at Kinross Services. We were early so had a short wait before the three of us had coffee.

We then decided to Head to Rumbling Bridge, Crieff and the sma' Glen rather than head for the A9. So far so good.

As has been reported, CF stopped for a comfort break so Ronno and I continued to Amulree and turned into Glen Quaich . . . . . :blast

All was well until we started to climb up past the hairpin where we hit frozen snow and ice - with a light drizzle falling on it

I was glad I had chosen the 100GS as I could handle it on the slippery stuff. I'd have binned the 1150GSA for sure. The road was so slippery it was difficult to stand on it. Pushing bikes through the deeper snow was very difficult.

Going up was bad - but coming down was worse. No steering, no brakes, just your feet to hold you up.

We met three guys with a large panel van trying to get to Amulree. They were half way up the first climb and were using sheets of cardboard under the wheels. It wasn't going anywhere and they were faced with a long reverse down the very slippery road.

Ronno got past them by folding in the driver's door mirror - with his head I think :D - (the mirror is OK by the way :thumb2)

I have a couple of pictures of the Glen Quaich road - but I promised Ronno I wouldn't post them.

I thought Ronno did very well on this road. I wouldn't have wanted to ride an 1150GS on it. I was struggling enough with the much lighter and lower 100GS. :bow :bow :bow

After losing at least an hour we arrived at Bridge of Balgie at 14:15, just as the others were thinking of leaving :blast

Most of the bikes are in this pic (Turpin parked his nearer the food).

Fruitcake was there on her F650GS:

Wully has the 'De Rigeur' R1200GS. :D

DSCN3472A.jpg

Fruitcake and Turpin seem surprised at something . . . .

DSCN3475.jpg

Could it be Ronno's knitting ? ? ? ? :augie

DSCN3470.jpg

Or the sudden arrival of 'Bacon' ? ? ?

DSCN3474.jpg

Cunning Fox decided to remove the knitting before any more pictures were taken :augie

DSCN3473.jpg

Wully got Bacon to sit still by shoving a bottle up his . . kilt . . (well, you wouldn't want to move much after that, would you !).

One for the 'Adventures of Bacon' album - on the Boxertools Memorial Bench :thumb2

DSCN3481.jpg

Bacon at the Glen Lyon Post Office & Store. Pity my camera started steaming up at this point :blast

DSCN3483.jpg

Hmmmmm Looks like a nice fishing pool opposite the Post Office . . .

DSCN3477.jpg

But before Shep arrives with his rod and line . . The Landowners have it covered :D

DSCN3478.jpg

Time for the first arrivals to leave . . Wully leads the way.

DSCN3485.jpg

Closely followed by Fruitcake. Glad to hear you both got home safely.

DSCN3486.jpg

I got home at 17:00, rather wet but not cold thanks to my heated gloves and waistcoat :rob

Like Ronno, I couldn't see a thing on the M90 so fixed on a car that had fog lights and hoped he knew where he was going :D

That rain stings with the visor up .

A good, memorable, day out and thanks to everyone who made the effort to attend. I believe 'Bacon' is now en route to Skye. Now that should be interesting :augie
