motorad central east have just quoted me over 300 notes to bleed f&r brakes says four hours labour plus fluid .i know its a bit more involved being servo brakes but ithink they are taking the piss.
 
they certainly are.

takes less than an hour if it's non servo. probably more if it is (not done it), but not 4 flipping hours surely?

Bleeding servos takes marginally longer than non servo, but it's actually easier, as the electric servos do the bleeding for you.

£300 and four hours labour for bleeding ?

You'll be bleeding from your farting orifice if you agree.
 
been searchin through sero bleed threads dont seem to be too difficult just done a 18000 service and thought it might be an idea to get dealer to do brakes but no way at that price.

Mottorad Wests hourly rate is £60/hr plus vat so 300 notes is about right for 4 hours work - which it isn't.

They currently have a 'cheaper' rate during January which is half normal price - i.e. £30/hr plus vat if you want to get it done before the 31st

I commented on the high rates and was told that I was lucky I didn't have a Merc- £120/hr hourly rate !! :potkettle
 
On the same note. Why is the BMW dealers always closed when you need them. My wife broke down one Saturday on here F650 and we were close to Glasgow so I thought instead of getting it towed in I'll go over to the shop in Glasgow and get the part (circlip that holds the front sprocket on). Sorry sir the spares dept is closed today. Then just after New Year, all the other bike shops are open but not Dalkeith BMW. No thye open the next Wednesday I think. Do thye make such good business. This morning just out of curiosity I phoned Dalkeith for a price on two BMW tools to remove the balljoint nut - sorry sir we do not sell BMW tools. Why not? Thye think thye'll go out of business. Probably by the way thye charge people for brake bleed and not being open. Sorry to say but the likes of Honda, Suzi and Kawasaki has got a lot better service and rates. BUT I STILL LOVE MY BEEMER and will try and not make use of any BMW Dealer.

Southport superbikes did the brake and clutch fluid change + MOT on my '02 1150 servo ABS for under £190 last December, also included courtesy bike GS1200 (yuk) for the morning. I thought the price a bit steep, this is the only bike that I've owned in over 30 years of riding that I've been unable to change brake fluid on.

I believe some special sevice tools are required for the brake servos, does anyone know what they are and where to get them? I have a compresser activated bleeder which I use on my cars and other bikes, the jobs done in a few minutes.

You need one of these. - A lot of money for a plastic funnel, but it seems to do the job. Basically it just acts as a header reservoir for the servo unit, so you can bleed it through without spilling brake fluid all over the place. I'm sure there are other simple alternatives too.

bled f&r brakes today plus the clutch had no bother at all about 1 1/2 hrs took it slowly could do it quicker with practice. Think i'll treat myself to a new arai lid:guitarist.
