I'm changing from alloys to wires on my 05 non ABS. But the bolts that attach the brake discs seem to be a couple of mil too long for the wires.

Although the disc to disc distance seems to be the same do I need shorter bolts ( which would have the disc distance the same as alloys )or extra spacers ( which seem to put the discs further apart)??

Rang the dealer.....its not a problem they are aware of, but don't want to overtighten and knacker the wheel.

Mark:confused:

Are the holes blind or straight through?

Do they need a tap running through them to clean the old loctite from the bolt holes ? I'd suspect the threads are tightening before the bolts bottom out due to old loctite etc.

Had a similar problem when I changed my original disc bolts for shiny stainless ones. The first bolt wouldn't tighten right up and I rounded the allen head which then took an age to get out. Used a tap to clean out the old loctite, applied some fresh loctite to new bolts and they went straight in. What should have been a quick job ended up taking a couple of hours.

Went to the dealer this morning. They couldn't figure out why the bolts wouldn't fit. Nothing blocking the thread, and BMW parts catalogue send they where the correct spec.
Opted for a slightly shorter bolt in the end, which did the job ok. Less than a tenner for ten bolts and the dealer did they work for free.

Think they were just as confused, and think they supplied long bolts to someone else.

Thanks for input. Will be selling the alloys....with the correct bolts so which this space if anybody interested.
