BRAKE FAILURES ARE ALL REAL !!!

I've looked through the linked article. Unfortunately my German doesn't stretch to technical terms.

From what I understand, BMW is currently working on a new braking system with a projected launch of 2006/7.

Does this new system do away with servo assist?

If it does, is it because the servo assist is unsuitable/too prone to failure?

Should we be concerned that BMW is developing/testing a new system? Or is it safe to assume that this is part of their normal ongoing development programme?

Whatever next? Twin rear shock-absorbers?!!!!!!!

Well, my German is halfway reasonable, and the article says:

There are signs that BMW are developing a new ABS system, without the electrical servo-assistance. The German brake manufacturing giant Teves Continental surprisingly presented a similar system at the Intermot in Munich. If it ever comes, then it will be for other reasons: Because such an ABS system is just as effective, and much cheaper. Because it weighs less, because the brakes can be applied more gradually, and of course: because it won't generate so many heated discussions.

 Who just farted  ?

*and Whatton, if you don't take your hand off my knee, people will talk......*

But what you are saying is that the brakes on all 1200GS's are "BLOODY DANGEROUS", which is certainly not the case.

Thankyou, Bob Southgate. Hope you read this post and take the blinkers off your eyes!

Should we be concerned that Microsoft is developing a new version of Windows? Intel a new processor generation?

In my experience, automotive companies can be working on the next generation of technology and the one beyond that while selling stuff launched in the last year.

It's normal. So's farting.
