Brake lever micro switch

My front brake lever keeps making the brake light switch on!

and staying on....

Test it at home and you can see and hear the switch making and braking (though I haven't put a meter on it yet) but the brake light seems to switch on with one pulse and off with the next!

Anyone had anything similar?

SBW "adjusted" it to cure it when they serviced it!

Yep had an intermittent problem eventually fixed by the dealer who replaced the switch. Wrote it up in a thread. Try a search on front brake servos.

Rode around today with no problem - only difference heated grips weren't on "number 2" all day!

Perhaps too obvious

Are you QUITE sure that the handguard allows the lever to fully extend? Put a sheet of paper between the lever and guard to check they are not touching - it can be difficult to see.

Oh yes, theres plenty of space, the lever will push forward a bit (getting on for 1cm) from the natural resting place.

The switch is the fault, of that I'm now sure, it's just annoying that it was "fixed" by the dealer.

I'll order myself a new switch.

My front brake switch failed which meant that I had to ride around for a few days with any servos as the initial brake test failed on start up. Having no servos does make you keep your distance from the car in front but also makes you realise that using servos to save a few grams in weight is not always the best way to go

The servo

Having become used to the servo I also was quite surpised when due to a minor fault ( handgauard touching lever) I was without it. The brakes were still good and not at all dangerous but I was very pleased when I realised the problem and went back to effortless braking - which does NOt mean without any feel. I understand that the servo has been dropped from the latest models - did it give a lot of trouble or was it simply a question of cost?
