On my bike, hopefully
Mr BMW wants over £90 for brake pads, £35 a side for the fronts and £23 for the rear.

So is there a a cheaper alternative, it's for a 2002 1150 with ABS, apparently they require different pads.

I put the Ferrodo ones in , very pleased, see Steptoe he stocks them at a good price.

A large concrete block,at the end of a heavy chain...? :D

EBC FA 335HH front £21.50 Nippynormans.com
EBC FA363HH rear £17.30 Nippynormans.com

Sorted.

Ferodo platinum £15 rear, £16 front ( if BMW calipers)

or £15 front if Brembo calipers .

Ferodo Platinum have serious stopping power

you pays your money, you takes your choice

:D :D :D

On a related topic, what's involved in changing brake pads on a bike with the "BMW" branded calipers (is that the "evo brakes?) and ABS?

I had read somewhere that simply pushing the pistons back into the caliper as one would do on a "normal" bike will confuse the ABS computer or something. Is this true?

Specifically, will I be able to perform jobs like this on my new 1200GS or is it back to the dealer for everything?

Mouse

Depends whether your servo assisted or not if not then no problem just change the pads as normal if servo then the circuit is in two parts and may require some other method.

Nothing on a 1200 is straightforward so best ask the dealer, brakes are too important to mess with.
