Just had my bike sevices at 6400 miles, been told that my rear pads will need replacing before next service. 1st question is that BMW pads must be crap for them to wear this quick. I have had other bikes for at least 2 years before replacing rear pads. 2nd question is there a good alternative to me buying BMW pads?

Cheers,

Alex ......

The linked brakes seem to put loads of work onto the rear pads. I'm on my third pair (21,000 miles) but changed my front pads last week out of boredom - there was still plenty of pad left.

You could put harder pads in , but then they'll wear the disc more. I don't think it's the biggest problem in the world. (They're dead easy to change as well.)

First set of BMW pads lasted 9000 miles, replaced by dealer and second set lasted 11000. Have fitted HBC HH pads. Only done 4000 miles on these so too early to say what the wear rate will be. Fitted HBC HH pads at the front this week after originals lasted 24000 miles. They weren't worn out though. The bottom corner edges of the pad had a curve in them which would have scored the disc before the pad material had worn out. Anybody else had this issue?

No ABS and 10,000km. Still have loads of wear on pads.
