Stuck in SE Asia.....Thank you Covid 19
I have just changed the brake poads on my Honda Shuttle and noted that only one side of them was wearing down. The side that was waering down is the outboard pad opposite from the piston. The piston is not stuck and moves in and out of the caliper as it should and the other side of the caliper moves along the shafts as it should... from this I would expect both sides to wear evenly as in theory there should be equal pressure from both pads to the disc.

Can any one offer any thoughts as to why they are wearing unevenly. I'm confident that the last time they were changed both inboard and outboard pads were changed.

I'm a bit confused to say the least.

MAny thanks

The same happens on my GS's rear brake, which has a single piston floating caliper.

I agree it does seem as though uneven pressure may be being put on the disc, but "they all do that" I think. If the wear isn't massively uneven I wouldn't worry.
