I am heading for 4 weeks on the continent in September. I did something similar last year and only saw one bike being recovered in 5000 miles....you guessed it-a 1200 GS!

Sooo I was wondering:

(1) How long does the warranty last on a GS? I bought a year old one 2 months ago and was a little too excited to pay attention to any mention of trivialities like warranties!:drool Am I right in thinking its just one year?

(2)If I go to the continent, is there a decent break down and recovery service available? If so, who do you folks recommend?

regards
Brendy

There's a 2 year BMW warranty with new bikes, which can be extended at the end of this period. This covers you worldwide. Just make sure you have the number saved on your mobile (just in case :thumb). So if yours is just over a year old, you should still be covered. The details should be in your handbook, and you should ring them and change it over to your name :rob

The recovery service with the BMW warranty is excellent. I can vouch for that

One time in France I needed assistance and I was very impressed with the service given by the AA. A friend with me on the trip had another company and that was very hard work on the phone etc. Just not what you need. AA did everything for my passenger to get her home. Very helpful and easy to use.

nci have a great policy - have used it before when not in the UK and they were great.
