Ok so heres the background: two bikes one my 2012 GSA twin cam that will definitely be used abroad several times throughout the coming year and the second bike a KTM 1290 superduke that will only ever be used on UK roads this year.

With policies such as Beemoto and Devitt the EU cover is included but the cost seems to be around £90 more, make of that what you will.

So anyway I thought I’d try green flag, never used them before but do have my home insurance with churchill and as the nice Indian lady told me Churchill were part of the green flag group so I would get a discount! So far sounds great! So anyway to get full European cover for the BMW and UK cover for the KTM they quoted me £295 for the year! Suffice to say I won’t be going with them.

So now looking at alternative options. Any other decent alternatives to AA or RAC that are worth looking at??

Thanks Guys.

"rescue my bike" do Euro cover for about £140 a year.
Thats who I use.
Only used them once, in middle of nowhere Scotland with a split rear tyre that couldnt be roadside repaired but they did what you would hope and recovered me a fair old way to Glasgow to get new rubber.
They use local contractors.

Was that Bike based, or personal cover?

I've always found Greenflag the cheapest for European cover.

have you tried a quote on a comparison site? Green Flag and others sell policies a lot cheaper via this method. They might have a few add ons removed but they are proper cover for breakdown, repatriation etc.
I bought an LV Britannia policy for £63. Covers my bike in Europe (or any vehicle I care to register as the main one) and gives me personal cover in any vehicle in the UK. I renewed it after a year.
Sadly, I think LV has stopped selling this way but plenty of other companies are on places like Moneysupermarket including Green Flag. Your 2012 bike is well within the 16 year limit.

I’ve always just got it as an add on to my bike insurance, normally about £30 extra and gives you anywhere between 30 to 90 days European cover.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I’ve since been on the comparison sites and can get the same green flag breakdown cover as the muppet on the phone quoted me £295 for £75!

Autoaid have a Europe partner for cover. Some Breakdown included with Insurance does have in a small print motorcycles only up to a certain age, so check first.

Thanks for this. Bloody mine field isn’t it, the whole damn process!

In same boat right now. Rang green flag this morning. Breakdown cover for 4 vehicles with nomination for any one of four vehicles at the time traveling to EU. ££854.56 please Sir.
