On Saturday 3rd of May the Lincolnshire Wolds Run is taking place from East Kirkby airfield and a number of us attended this event in support of the Air Ambulance service.

I propose we have our Saturday breakfast the following week on the 10th.

I am currently looking at a last visit to the Chocks Away cafe at Nottingham Airport Tollerton.

I am now aware that due to the sale of the land to a housing developer this will be the last day the cafe will be opening.

This may attract a larger number of people than usual so I will listen to opinions on this over the next few days before I phone to book.

Let me know your thoughts.

Gerry

Suspect it could be busy but it would be a shame to miss their last day. Presume at 9am it wouldn't be as busy as mid-day or afternoon. Therefore I am happy with venue.

Or I can put a run on around the hidden lanes of East Staffordshire and breakfast stop in a new venue I have scouted? I keep saying I will but they are all over that side of Nottingham!

Thanks Gerry - looking forward to it (y)

Judds in Colwick have an open day on the 10th and so may pop along there afterwards.

Just an update on Saturday’s venue.

As it is their last day there is a notice on Facebook about holding a protest against the proposed closure of the airport and associated businesses there at 11.30

If this has an impact on views for visiting there please post up here.

Thanks
Gerry

Gerry - sure it will be fine as most of us will get there around 9.00ish and be ready to move on before the protest starts at 11.30 (y)

Yes Paul those were my thoughts.

Just needed to make everyone aware. 👍

“What do we want - Breakfast”
“When do we want it - 9am”

Beautiful morning today and a very good turnout to support the final day at the cafe.

Paul Vernon was lucky to get the only and final big breakfast at the cafe (gratis) as they were only supposed to be serving cobs.

Plenty of aircraft activity and people hoping for a Spitfire flying past.
