Wifey and I arrive on the overnight ferry at 7am in Portsmouth in early September. We're after somewhere good for breakfast between Pompey and Church Crookham nr Fleet...farm shop cafe etc . Thanks in anticipation of the usual UKGSer excellence...

Thanks for that....it'd do for me but I suspect the Mrs would disagree with a burger for Breakfast (i couldn't see much else of their menu?)

Durleigh Marsh Farm has a good cafe. Between Petersfield and Midhurst on the A272. No more than 10 minutes from the A3. Like a lot of these type of establishments it doesn’t open until 0900.

Depends how long you take to get out of Pompey, but I can recommend the Vito Lounge in Fareham for a decent breakfast in pleasant surroundings, it opens at 9am. Parking in Fareham is pay and display in the quay street car park (free for bikes).

Details below:

Alternatively you could seek out a decent country pub, I have eaten lunch in The Thomas Lord in West Meon which was superb, I believe they serve breakfast from 8am as they have rooms.

Davey, how will you be travelling? Bike? Car? Motorhome?

What quality establishment are you looking for? Posh? Bargain Basement? Greasy Spoon Cafe ?

If you just need a hot meal, there is a Morrisons supermarket in Portsmouth with a cafe that opens at 7am, similarly a huge Sainsbury’s at Hedge End just off M27.

For a decent meal if in no rush, you could head up the A32 through the Meon Valley starting at Wickham and find a country pub or tea room.

There is a nice tea room in Wickham Square (Medieval village square), they open at 08:30 but they look expensive as it’s gourmet.

If it were me I would head up A32 to Alton then on to Odiham if in no rush. Odiham isn’t far from your final destination. Plenty of small places to eat just off the route like country pubs and cafes. I think South Warnborough has a cafe, about 50 minutes from Pompey:

This was where the Post Office scandal really kicked off, with the post mistress Jo Hamilton getting royally fucked over by the Horizon system and Fujitsu.

Thanks folks. I didn't want to write a full paragraph initially...just wanted a decent cafe.
We are on the bike...arrive at 7am...so I'll say moving North from Portsmouth at say 7.30am. It is around an hour to Church Crookham. So likelihood is that we will roll up at some cafe at 8am onwards.
That cafe at South Warnborough will be perfect.
That'll do. (y)

Davey, I have driven past it many times and it looks quaint and part of the small community but sadly I've never stopped there as I was contracting and always in a rush, can you do me a favour and let me know how good the food is. I might make it somewhere to pop into on a bike rideout in future.

There is(was) an airfield cafe on the road between Alton/Basingstoke that served decent food but its in the opposite direction to the way you are heading.

If you are heading up the A32 then Meon Springs is just off the road at West Meon, an interesting single track.
I have been there in the evening (actually stopped overnight in my hammock) for a couple of beers.
The Cafe has a veranda overlooking the trout lake, very pleasant.

If its not too far out of your way try the White Hart at Hook. Four of us on bikes stopped there on the way back from the Portsmouth ferry last year. Cracking full english with cereals, toast and unlimited coffee all for under £7! Probably gone up a bit since then but there's loads of parking behind the pub, just remember to enter your Reg No. on the tablet on the counter.
