So my uncle obtained this in the early 60's and it suffered a crack to the glass, so it had its strap removed and was placed in a box with other high quality watches. He passed away in the early 80's. This watch was discovered in the early part of this year when my aunt passed away with all the jewellery and watches being left to my mother. My mother sent the watches to a local auction house. All the watches sold with the exception of the Breitling that didn't make the reserve of £1900.

I posted on here a while back asking for advice, which I greatly received and this allowed me to make decision on the watches future..I sent the watch to a specialist high end watchmaker for an estimate.

I authorised the work and had it serviced, a new glass, Mainspring, ultrasonic clean and a re-lumination of the hands costing £943.80 They also fitted a non Breiting age authentic black strap (Italian leather).

Prices on Chronograph 24 seen to range between £3250 and £4500

I just want to get back for my mother a sensible price which I believe to be £3000

Due to its value I am happy to deliver or meet up within a 150 mile distance of Norfolk

I am No watch expert and appreciate genuine assistance, comments or enquiries

looks lovely, did you keep the original strap and buckle?

did he fit an "original" type replacement glass?......... I think that it should be plexiglas

The original strap was removed in the early 70s after it received the crack to glass and was put away

when you tap the glass, (lightly with your finger nail), does it feel like "plastic" or "glass"

That is a nice thing and proper vintage I have always fancied a vintage navtimer but funds currently dont allow or I think I would be having a serious chat

Just checked and the estimate/ invoice was for plexiglass

Good luck with the sale but FYI you’ve got two live threads running.

This a Xmas BARGAIN for someone.

806 was 12 hr dial however In 1961 Breitling released a 24-hour version of the Navitimer 806 and shortly thereafter gave it a new model number 809. Since it took almost a year to change the reference number of the 24-hour Navitimer 806 to the Navitimer Cosmonaute 809.

This is infact a 809 as very kindly pointed out by Ding Dong

Lovely watches.
I have a late 80’s Navitimer which I bought in the mid 90’s. Mine is a keeper.
