wow made a major cock up...

been running a set of Brembo pads up front - these lasted well, have not worn the discs out, were quiet, had great feel, worked well throughout the year and had very good braking all the time...

but I forgot what ones they were... visiting Brembo UK bike site it lists three pad types with no real info and none where what I was using.... all I remembered was they had a silver coloured backing plate and pretended to say track - which none listed here have https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/catalogue-bike/bmw-r-gs/8927 ???

Thinking I found the right one I got a set of 07BB26SR - Sintered compound for sports use on the track and the road
having bedded in gently for 150 miles - I find they don't work at all - nearly been hitting stuff multiple times as this crap doesn't work at all and fades before you get from 60 to 20 mph

I now find they made 07BB26SC - which is what I had and they function adequately - and are for sale all over Europe no problem at good prices - but harder to come by here
Characterised by excellent efficiency in all conditions of use. These are Brembo racing brake pads for track use

it gets better - just contacting the seller re dangerous pads - and I ordered the correct ones... they just sent the wrong ones - and as they look so similar, I never spotted when fitting them

so the decent SC compound is now out of production, I have bought up a few sets for personal use as they are becoming harder to find, cheaper abroad even with postage !

on the left is the New Track spec SR compound that doesn't function
on the right is the Old Racing spec SC compound that are perfect

Straight after fitting within one light ten second application to help bed in the Racing spec pads - I had more brakes with one finger with the pads on the right - than I did after 200 miles of sensible bedding in, 2 miles of gentle warm up and all four fingers squeezing for dear life on the death pads.

I've been running the racing pads through three winters, even at -10C first application, they have more bite than the new junk on the left at any time.... so its not even an issue to warm up the good ones

Reminds me of the Bendix MRR compund “not for road use” pads I ran in my old Yamaha R1 that were amazing, even from stone cold. Just can’t seem to find them nowadays.

I’ve got some Fren pads ,don’t know what they are like they came with some accessory i bought off eBay .

When I bought my R1 it came with “Goldfren” sintered pads fitted. It struggled to stop, they were truly lethal and went straight in the bin.

You bought racing pads for the road and you're surprised they don't work well ??

You're not getting them up to track temperatures. They're not designed for the road.

You can't blame Brembo. Assuming I'm not misunderstanding.

No - I had SC compound Silver backing plate racing pads they were brilliant, working well all year, at all temps even from a cold start - wanted new ones of the same

But they sent what now appears to be the current equivalent SR compound silver - They don't work hot cold or no matter how hard you pull the lever - they fade badly inside 40 meters on one stop and get dangerously worse and worse.

The supplier admitted they sold thousands of the ones I had over many years and they agree they worked great - but sadly have been superseded. Then stated all the usual compounds listed on the website are an utter joke - aka
CC blue
SP red
SA red
LA grey
But in their mind the latest track pads SR Compound silver pads work well for most people.

As it clearly states above - after obtaining a new set of what I had SC compound - within one light ten second application to help bed in the Racing spec pads - I had more brakes with one finger - than I did after 200 miles of sensible bedding in, 2 miles of gentle warm up and all four fingers squeezing for dear life on the death pads.

I also have a GSA with a set of BMW std pads and they provide half the brakes I'm used to on my daily driver
