Brembo Stylema calipers on 1250 GS

Do you know what pads the Stylema take, and what differing compounds are available from Brembo if any ?

As its a braking system modification from the OE specification I guess your insurers would need to be informed. I can't see it changing your insurance premium but it is a way for them to deny a claim if not declared.

And I think that within each category, there are many to choose from. I usually go for the closest to the original part, if I like the feel.

As for the insurers, you are absolutely right. It is always better to be 100% transparent.

Seems that you can just remove the dowel pin with a pair of molegrips

Saves getting a drill out on them shiny new calipers and presumably you could buy new ones to put back into the mounting bracket if you did want to swap them back.

Hey all

I just came back from a 2000 miles trip in Northern Italy, through Stelvio etc..., and the Stylemas were fantastic. They are REALLY different. It's not a case of having new parts and overthinking it.
The initial bite is similar to the Hayes, but they are much progressive after that and the total stopping power is far above! Also, there is no grinding feel and no squeaking, even after intensive use.

Worth mentioning, considering my riding style:
I tend to ride fast (much too fast) but very smooth. I usually don't brake much nor hard, and use engine braking instead. But I must say that this time, I have really enjoyed braking

Haha I'm joking You are right. On a track. Cannot set good lap times without perfectly timed and super hard braking.
But out there on the road, I'm not trying to set lap records. I'm just trying to flyyyy through the countryside. Which I do! And that's what I love.

Usually, I average 65MPH when going out for fun. And 49° lean angles. Obviously, S1000 RR and other sport bikes riders would laugh at those figures, but again, I am not trying to "achieve" anything, I'm just riding in my own dynamic way and casually looking at the figures afterwards, only as a result of the fun that I had.

Plus a GS is not the "ultimate tool" for fast riding. That is plain internet BS. But it can take me to work every single day of the year, rain (and even snow!) or shine, while still allowing me to have fun on the weekend. And that is why I've owned 4.

I'm using 07BB3796. And next, I'm planning on testing the ones fitted to the Multistrada V4.
I think their edge is has slight angle to them, preventing the very specific noise that flat pads make when they touch the little holes in the discs.
