I heard it was an option now as some people have such a bee in their bonnets re the Hayes. But it’s all word of mouth, nothing official as far as I know.

Ok no problem. I have nothing bad to say about mine in fact on initial bite they are way better than Brembos. So unless they start leaking in the future I’m not going to complain.

My Hayes calipers were replaced before I had the bike because they were leaking. I have not ridden the bike yet and it still has only 6 delivery miles on it. I think the one caliper is weeping again. I will be pushing to get them replaced as I have no confidence in them at all.

The initial bite was part of the design brief of the Hayes. The design is by BMW not Hayes who just make them. Apparently customer feedback was that the Brembos has less than ideal initial bite and faded when pushed. Had the Hayes not leaked it would of been job done.

Mine don't leak

BMW should just stop fucking about and stick Brembo M50's on the GS

If it's good enough for Triumph to stick them on their 1200 Scrambler :augie

My new Rallye TE is sat in the dealer was built about 4 weeks ago as it is a tracker version so 2020 build and it has Hayes Calipers fitted

I will be on the phone on Monday insisting on Brembo's I'm holding the cards at the moment as I have only paid the deposit so they will fix it :whip

I doubt Brembo will be a free option whether specified at purchase or after. So depends how much you squeezed them on price. Bmw certainly won’t hand them to your dealer for free

Came as a surprise to the new owner, so not, I'm thinking a special order or anything like it

I’m wondering if the bike was supplied with leaking Hayes pieces of shit and they were advised by the mother ship to replace them with Brembos. They are a direct fit from the 1200 as far as I can see, fork legs the same, hoses etc

Not necessarily, what if they say no?
Are you going to cancel the order and potentially lose your deposit?
They may well oblige, but don't kid yourself, if they want to they can just say they are delivering what you ordered. If you chose to cancel they can keep the deposit, if they are reasonable, they may refund you the deposit. They'll sell the bike again, no problem.
I think you'll find they hold all the cards (if they want too), they already have a large chunk of your money ;)

This is after all 1 bike. No one else has received or seen a 1250 with standard Brembo as far as I can see on the net. Only one I know of was specced at time of purchase. A call to a dealer would answer it I’m sure if it’s now the policy.

Maybe the production manager line found a dusty box of old stock Brembo calipers and decided to feed them into the line to avoid explaining why he still had them.
