Just a quick shout out for Brian Giles (BGM). He's been mentioned on here a few times.

Located at Pembury, on the edge of Tunbridge Wells, Kent just off the A21.

Just helped with diagnosis of dodgy coils on my twin spark GS (they all seem to be doing that) - loaned me a couple for a few days from one of his bikes (HP2 for sale!), which we tested individually, then ordered new ones and fitted them - £109.

Also does my bikes servicing and free loaner. Takes the time to check the bike out first, then only does the work which is necessary based on experience as well as the maintenance schedule.
A couple of months ago: £240ish for 18k and annual service, including brake fluid change, 2 spark plugs and set of rear pads.

Really impressive garage / workshop etc. Can also do tyres while you wait - if you phone first and he's got them in stock!

Is Brian any relation of the great Johnny Giles, also from Pemburey?. :bow

second that

Brian is an ace guy.

My 650 developed an electrical fault the other day. Rang Brian and he told me where to look and how to fix it. No charge , no problem. Years of experience and he gave it for free.

Always has and always will do my work.

He gave my RT a 42K service on Friday, perfect service yet again :thumb

He does not miss a thing and expains everything that he is doing or has done.

No crazy main dealer labour rates either.

Another recommendation from me. :thumb He's fitted a Laser Duotone and carried out a minor repair/respray to my frame (well, minor to him but would have taken me forever and it still wouldn't have been right).

My bike was ready when he said it would be, he called me when he said he would, and the quality of the work looks superb. He even lent me a bike while it was being done. Solved my problem about where to get future services done.

I'm a happy chap today. Can't wait to try the exhaust with the louder (non-legal) insert.

Just checked on route finder and its nearer to me than where I've been using.
Does anyone know how much he charges for a loaner bike and does he always have one available? Thanks

No charge for a loaner from Brian. Just make sure your insurance covers you for other bikes.

The loaner I had from him last was an 1150RS, '54 plate, non ABS.

I think he has others too.

Warranty??

Good to read all these recomendations. As I live near Maidstone, Brian Giles would be a lot closer than the nearest official BMW dealer. I also prefer supporting any small business. Cheers

My R1150RT broke down in the French Alps just over two weeks ago with a suspected knackered clutch slave cylinder.

Carole Nash decided to repatriate the bike under their European breakdown cover as I needed to travel home the next day and could not wait for a French repair.

Anyway, the bike arrived yesterday to Brian Giles's garage and I have just returned with it after he replaced the clutch slave cylinder :thumb

Fantastic service as usual, many thanks Brian :thumb

As a result of an over enthusiastic tightening of the nuts that hold the fuel pump/filter housing to the fuel tank, a mate and I managed to shear off two of the tiny brass threads that protrude from the tank. Consequently of course fuel leaked as we couldn't get the part back on and the gasket tight enough.
Various frantic calls to various dealers, spare part stockists provided no help (or help at mad prices), and local (to me in Maidstone) motorcycle repairers scratched their heads and all decided they couldn't help.

I found Brian as a result of UKGSer and following a quick phonecall delivered my 1150 tank to him, and he promised to get it sorted one way or another. Around a week later the job was done, to a fantastic standard, no leaks, good finish, and good honest advice.

I can't speak highly enough for the service he's provided, I was tempted away from the marque as there was no local dealer for servicing, however, now I know of Brian I'm sticking with BMW !

Overall, great service, reasonbly priced, top bloke. :bow :thumb

New set of BT020E's for my RT fitted by Brian for less than Micheldever :thumb

Still waiting for SLM to call me with a price, after 3 days

Cheers Brian :thumb

Top Geezer

I've just had both tyres replace by Brian, I arrived at 19.30 hrs as I could not get away from work any earlier.

He even swapped the front brake pads around to even out the wear.

A top bloke! I highly recommend him.

just wanted to add my bit too. took my much abused bike to brian and he did all the servicing it had missed plus a full service. plus fixed about 10 other faults while he was there! attention to detail was unbeatable, price was way better than i was prepared to pay and i got a free bike to ride while he did the work...

Big thanks to south london m/c for being a bunch of snotty nosed w@nkers... if it wernt for them i wouldnt have had to find brian in the first place! cheers.

If you can find a good one you always keep with them. Does any one know if he does bikes other then BM's as if if i take the bemer I like my other bikes done by the same person. it's good to talk. :blast :thumb

i did ask and he is BMW only. didnt want to touch my other bikes which is a shame, but he came so highly recommended and it was all true.
