I've had Bridgestone Batlax BT 021 tyres on my 2003 R850R, for 3000 miles now, I've had the front slide away several times now in the wet quite frightening
but I've managed to hold on to it and not drop it. they have been like that from new. now they are really twitchy on white lines and banding. I will be glad when they have worn out. I had Continental road attack 2 before, best tyres I have ever had on any bike,

Hardly surprising. Totally crap tyres.

Hi Colin

I had an 021 rear ( with a 020 front ) and had no problems. This year I thought I would try some more modern tyres and got a pair of Michelin Road Pilot 3s. As I think you would expect the Michelins are far batter, tyres have moved on in the 10 years or so between the launch of the Bridgestones and the Michelins

I have done around 3000 miles on them so far. I can't comment on the wet weather grip because we haven't had much in the way of rain so far this summer. The give give confidence though-it took me the trip up the valley to the dam and back to get to the edge of the rear tyre from new. It looks like the rear might not last the season ( the Bridgestone did) but that might be because I am using the extra grip to push a little harder. I never take the GS off road so I don't want or need anything other than road tyres. I think I will get another pair when these wear out as they give me confidence. Most of us never get to the limits of any modern tyre, what matters is knowing the bike will get around that corner, the limit is not the bike or it's tyres but the rider.

Colin; worst tyre I've had the dubious pleasure of riding on in many a year. I can't believe they're still available. Try the Road Attacks, Michelins or Dunlop Roadsmarts & you'll find you've somehow got a new bike.
