Anyone have the cost of a pair fittted in the North west ?

Ride in Ride out

Thanks

Gary

About £1500. Thats what it cost to repair my bike when they didn't stick going round a bend. Would never touch them again.

From my Transalp days I seem to remember that there are several tyres under the 'Trailwing' label. The TW47 and 48 were very good and cheap too. However ther rest were absolutely rubbish and will throw you off at the first wet corner.
I put the tw47/48 on after Avon Distanzias and was amazed at the improvement. So just make sure you get the right ones (if they are avaible in GS sizes).

Trailwings were original fitment on my 1150. Changed to Tourances, didn'ty notice much difference. BUT, rear Trailwing shagged at 7,500, same distance on Tourance, lots of tread left.

Trailwing front tyre adopted a strange wear pattern that theTourance is not showing.

Either you're not riding hard enough :D or the roads where you live aren't as abrasive as the ones I ride on - I got 5,500 out of my last rear Tourance. The rear didn't last any longer on other bikes (Tiger, Caponord) that I owned either.

My front Tourance wore in a very strange pattern (due to braking by the look of it) and although it had plenty of tread depth left it made the bike weird to ride so I gave up on it. I put on 020's instead and I know it's been said before but if you haven't tried them you really should - for road riding they can't be beaten with the standard rim sizes. Unless you ride off road - they're not known for being good at that :)

Had a quick spin on a 1200 fitted with the new BattleWings, they produced an amazingl amount of road roar, bit like driving an old Landie.

I've had my GS for one year and done 13,500 ish miles, excluding taking it off the road when all the salt was down. Used the Honda instead, so milage is a relevant issue to me, I've read that these 020's won't last as long as the Tourance, & as I use it to commute 46 miles to work each day ( on the motorway) tyre wear is highly relevant.

The odd wear pattern felt odd, but wasn't unsafe, so I carried on until it was shagged. Does that make you a girly ? or me a tightwad?
Strangely enough, the front Bridgestone on the Honda CB1 400 is wearing the same.

Welwyn Garden City, there's the clue, must be off road in all those gardens.

I did just over 6000 miles on the 020's. That included 3,500 extremely fast miles around continental Europe with lots of luggage which hammered the tyres far harder than I ever would/could in this country. The other 2,500 miles or so was two-up commuting 45 miles a day, 3/4 of which is motorway. The rear has about 500 - 1000 miles left in it and the front is barely worn (hard to believe given the state of the Tourances after the same mileage), but I've now fitted alloys to the bike and wrapped them in......020's. After 6000 miles on the last set I couldn't imagine a better all-round tyre. I'm doing my first track day next week which is the only use that they haven't been tested with yet.

If it's mileage your after, Avon Distanzia seem to last for ever, 11,000 for my oldTransalp rear!

I wouldn't have them given, they ruin the bike. And I'm tighter than a duck's bum at 60 fathoms...

Front TrailWing wore out 1/2 way between the centre and edge at 7500 miles (front centre & all of rear still had 3mm or so). Tourances now wearing evenly, 9000 miles with a bit left. It's a whole different bike.

Don't know how hard I ride, "medium" I s'pose. :)
