Waternish hall commitee were ousted by new comers who thought that they new how to run a traditional family ceilidh better than the long term locals.

£10 a head £5.00 for under 16's
Maybe that's the going price in Hertfordshire I don't know :nenau

12 people turned up :(

Last year 80 people and folks getting turned away at the door.

Mind you it was curtailed at 3 am after some holiday maker got banjo'd and turned out like a John Wayne western:thumb2 :D

Charging? Jeez...I'm not suprised only 12 turned up.

In our Village, everyone 'does their own thing' or goes to the harbourside bonfire until just after the bells. Then everyone legs it to the village hall (FOC), lugging along mountains of sarnies etc and lotsa drink. Party then goes on until whenever with music from whoever turns up with an instrument.

I suppose we're quite lucky that the White Settlers who live here (me included) have got the sense not to try and dictate to everyone how they should run their lives, We blend in, volunteer, help out, and fire out as much pish taking as we get.
The ones that do try to get everyone to do things 'like we do in England' only tend to last a few months up here.

They tend to be the ones who refuse to mix and speak to the locals, only to scamper South wailing 'nobody talked to us'. :tosser Good riddance.

Just been asked to do the immortal memory at the Burns night at the local hall.

Could I do a short version as no-one understands it:blast

No need tae tell ye ma answer:D

This has happened before and the locals let them get on with it until the trip up.
Pity as so much has been done to get the hall funding to get it renovated.
